Uber’s Strategy for Fighting Sexual Assault Suits: ‘What Were You Wearing?’

The ride-hailing giant promised to handle legal claims “in a way that is best for the survivor.” Its lawyers are pursuing a far more aggressive strategy.

I spend a lot of time with retired people 60+ that are pursuing their passions (painting, bird watching, pretty evergreen stuff) and want to other people interested in these things. I often suggest BlueSky to them and show them how you can follow topics, communities and lists based on interests.

If you show up to Bluesky without following anyone, you'll be treated to a series of posts about art, music, and dogs. If you show up to X without following anyone, you'll be bombarded with right-wing conspiracies and white supremacist slop. It's weird which one is seen as a "political bubble"

Hey guys, Perez Hilton performed self-harm and may have attempted a suicide on TikTok and screenshots are flying around, so if you are sensitive, go put "Perez Hilton" in your mutes right now.

Are Opticians getting kick backs for Meta Glasses???
discussion
Went to get an eye exam and new glasses recently and they really did a hard sell on Meta Glasses even after I told them that I coach high school sports and will be in locker rooms. They said they only record when you ask them to and didn't see a problem with me wearing them around a school and sport team. They even went as far as telling me it could be beneficial to record practices!!! For a regular pair, but not planning on going back there again. It felt creepy.

SpaceX's AI spending unnerves Wall Street despite promises of quick payoff

In addressing Wall Street for the first time since SpaceX's IPO, executives tried to make the case that hefty AI investments are paying off within a year.

Seems to me that the only difference between DSA and the establishment Dems is that the DSA works its ass off while establishment Dems rest on their laurels. El-Sayed will win because he did more events, and met more constituents where they are. Full stop, that’s how he did it, with a Dem message

A 60 Minutes probe into Epstein's banking, with Wyden already interviewed, vanished right after Sharyn Alfonsi got pushed out under Bari Weiss. Same editor who stalled the CECOT migrant story until Stephen Miller got a say. CBS keeps calling it timing. Sure looks like a pattern.

Wyden revealed he was interviewed for the show in a Senate report alleging the country's largest banks turned “a blind eye” to Epstein's financial activity

If you think Democrats taking back the senate is out of reach because El-Sayed is winning the Michigan primary, I don't know what to tell you. There is no planet where someone as odd/off-putting as Stephens was the more electable of the two.

At the risk of ruining my mentions, I want to remind my centrist friends that “vote blue no matter who” also applies when Dems nominate a leftist. We need to be single focused on winning back the Senate. We cannot do that without Michigan.

Analysts estimate that 70%+ of Microsoft, Google and Amazon's present and future AI revenues are from Anthropic and OpenAI's compute spend and model sales. Outside of two unsustainable AI labs, demand barely exists, and they've massively overbuilt capacity. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-deman...

Aaaaaaaand AP just called the Kansas U.S. Senate Democratic primary for Rev. Adam Hamilton, so now there is, indeed, six. Not surprising (he was breaking fundraising records), but notable all the same. (And possibly one more pastor nominee by night’s end — we’ll see.)

"Pastors in Name Only" "Wicked Witch of Woke" “I've never seen anyone commit so much blasphemy against the word of God." As pastors become Democratic nominees — at least 5 so far, and likely one more tonight — their Republican opponents are attacking their faith. religionnews.com/2026/08/04/p...

I also have a tip for all you strivers and billionaire simps out there. In the US, you are roughly 90 times more likely to be present at a mass shooting than to reach 30 million net worth. You are about 2.4 times more likely to be killed in a mass public shooting than to become a billionaire.
