You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

My two teens went to see Spider-Man yesterday and came back with rave reviews and terrible headaches. The little guy would love to go see it in theater, but I dread the volume and bright flashes that I can’t really escape in a big public theater. Has anyone already solved this?

i got mugged at shotgun point. the cops arrested the wrong guy, hustled me out of court at the hearing when i said ”that’s not the guy,” told me “you didn’t see him,” made me do a lineup at the prison and when i said “that’s the guy i saw in court, still not him” told me “it’s OK, he’s a bad person”

Full of despair today. Massive lay offs in social sciences and humanities across the country, Burnham puts out a video saying 'AI can write an essay', and my university is busy integrating co-pilot into all staff and student computers. We are being told we're defunct and there's no resistance.

I told my students when they go to the weight room and move the weights up and down, the point was not just moving the weights. If they brought in a forklift and used that to move the weights, no one would say the goal was achieved. Writing is the same. I’m not making essays. I’m making thinkers.

You might as well close the course. Which they're also doing. This is an attack on learning, and everyone is just shrugging.
