One Big Game is soon (August 13th-14th)! 24 hours of livestreamed footie played by games industry folk of varying skill! Raising money for @specialeffect.org.uk! But don't just take our exclamations for it, squidge your peepers around this video for a look at what it's all about:

Used to be even "economy" seats on overseas flights were comfortable. Now they have those same damn cheap ass plastic seats with no cushion that are on the domestic flights. I mean really, a cushion does not take up any space and barely weighs anything. I now require chemical help to fly overseas.

After a very painful experience flying economy from Berlin to LAX many years ago I decided that all continent-spanning flights had to be premium economy and it's cool that airlines decided having 6" of extra legroom is equal to 250% ticket price.

40 years of adventures. Here's to the worlds we've built together... and those still to come. We're marking the occasion with a logo inspired by our roots.

If you're an artist or developer in the #XR or immersive experience space, please create builds of your work. It's staggering to see how many public experiences rely on someone starting Unity/Unreal and hitting play. It just looks bad and risks losing a ton of performance to in-editor overhead.

However, countless websites are using this image without my permission. Worse, several 'extended' background versions exist, clearly created with some AI bullshit, also unauthorized

Masters Of the Univers just dropped on Prime Video & besides being goofy as hell that thing was... Awesome 🫩👀 (I'm 44 & played with He-man toys while watching the cartoons religiously so I may be a bit biased..) One more reason to never care about review scores. app.primevideo.com/detail?gti=a...

Today at Pixar's Open Source BoF at SIGGRAPH I'll be introducing USD Web View: an OSS webapp built for meaningful OpenUSD stage access and interaction. The project enables OpenUSD inspection, composition arc access, MaterialX support, Gaussian Splats and more, in one web-native environment:

Wow! Instagram’s AI just inflated my resume! This is why you should never believe these AIs on facts, it’s just a guessing machine (I did used to work at Pixar, I have been an art director, but I was never an art director at Pixar)

Been watching F1 since 1985 & I'm not into conspiracy theories but there definitely seems to be something fishy going on at Mercedes. Russell is getting screwed because there's no way Kimi should be that fast compared to him. There's some shady energy deployment shenanigans trickery going on

I keep seeing arguments for games being expensive due to hyper realistic expectations for art, or simply lots of art. What I don’t see is the actual most costly reason: Indecision Iteration is good, but the yearly rebuilding of entire characters, storylines, and levels, is the most expensive thing

Many factors at play here - not the least of which is higher-ups (in their infinite wisdom) not being able to commit to anything, or knowing good from bad All the while the economy at large expects the profit line go infinitely up, absolutely ignoring its undeniable tendency to do the opposite
