Did u know?Because an animal is small, doesn't make it insignificant. Even though she's only 2cm long, for a few precious seconds, this Buff-tail bumblebee & I were locked in each other's orbit. Her antennae sniffed the air for my scent & her eyes looked straight into mine. Celebrate the small. 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲🐝

Native to Africa, Elephant Shrews or sengis, are surprisingly more closely related to elephants than to true shrews or rodents. While they are in the same major evolutionary branch as elephants, they are still quite distant relatives genetically. IG: @ hertfordshirezoo

Ydych chi'n cofio'r adeg pan oedd y Torïaid, Yr Iwcips/Plaid Brexit/Rifform yn frwd dros ddemocratiaeth, sofraniaeth a gwneud eich penderfyniadau eich hunain heb ymyrraeth allanol? Wel, mae'n ymddangos bod hynny wedi newid. Rhyfedd, ynde?

The rush to speculate that asylum seekers are responsible for every crime in the news is a sort of opportunistic informational terrorism. Until it’s disproved it stokes fear and hatred. When it is disproved there are no adverse consequences and they know that they only have to be lucky once.

Whenever there's a high profile set of arrests in the UK and the suspects turn out to be British, you can feel the sense of Farage's disappointment, like his doorbell started ringing in the middle of a wank.

It's Monday! Let's start week off with a map & some eels! Here is John Speed's 1611 map, "The Kingdome of Great Britaine and Ireland." There are Dutch eel ships on this map. Can you find them? (the answer is at the end of the thread) Wait, you ask...WTF is an eel ship? 1/5 🗃️🧪

A map of of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. It is quite busy with roads, and towns, and counties. There are monsters in the sea, and several ships. There are 2 large insets, one showing the a view of the city of London and one showing the city of Edinburgh. There is a smaller inset above the Edinburgh one showing the northern tip of Scotland and the Orkneys. Above the inset for London is the coat of arms for the Order of the Garter, with a lion and unicorn. The arms have the order's motto around them: "honi soit qui mal y pense" (shame on him that thinks ill of it), and below it the popular Puritan phrase, "Semper Idem" (always the same). It is a very detailed and pretty map.

"Always the same" and "shame on him that thinks ill of it" is strident rejection of the Growth Mindset ideology, and I am here for it.

Imran Hussain, Executive Director of External Affairs at the Refugee Council, said: "We are deeply saddened to learn three people, including a child, have died, and more may have been seriously injured while crossing the Channel in the hope of finding safety in Britain.
