We finally got our hands on our copy of Coast Watchers! Very nice to have tools included to eliminate the memory requirement in deduction. The allied player can refer to a mission tree and the Japanese can use notational chits to track sightings.
SDHistConNorth was a great time! The only thing better than the games were the kind and welcoming people at the table. My wife and I had a great time. Thanks to all the folks teaching games and the @sdhistcon.bsky.social staff making sure things were running smoothly!
This was a blast! And a fascinating historical subject to boot. We can't wait for our copy to show up.
COAST WATCHERS demo @sdhistcon.bsky.social North ...
At SD HistCon North in St Paul!!! Started out with a bang playing Microverse. Ran real quick to get some fancy coffee between my scheduled games. Can’t wait to finish off the day with a couple more games I’m super excited about. @sdhistcon.bsky.social
You ever wanna share thin slices of a single bean with the homies?

Capitalism lives in the eternal "now". It doesn't want you to know about history, it doesn't want you to know art has existed for tens of thousands of years, it wants you slavering for whatever's coming NEXT, whatever's HOT and NEW, and ignoring everything else. You do not have to do this.

AI is "just a tool" but also "every child on the planet must be forced to learn to prompt (train) the machines and edit its output and that is the future of education" do not make sense. If it is "just a tool," we do not have to repurpose the entire architecture, goals, of education.

it's funny because I'm always like "Actually this shit sucks so fucking bad" and all the vibecode bros are like you should try using it, and like... I try all the time man, I'm better than you at trying, they're just awful and you're not good enough to know.

The SciArt Feed here on Bluesky is gated so I can keep Gen AI out. If someone posts AI, I boot them and it disappears. I think it’s happened twice in 2.5 years. A worry-free feed. Pin & Like here: bsky.app/profile/did:...
I hate how it’s getting hard to appreciate anything cute or interesting because so much of it is fake I don’t want to like, fact check every funny animal picture, so I’m finding myself scrolling past a lot of stuff unless I know it’s someone’s own original content
I don't think I could make a joke better than this
I sure hope they don't run out of compute or it never gets more expensive than it is right now for some reason.
well it depends who you ask because I would say there is no magic and the reason it works at all is they have infinite compute cycles and they do everything two or twenty-four times over and in any other context that would be considered malpractice. But you obviously feel differently.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Attie, currently as an invite-only closed beta. Attie is the first agentic social app on atproto. It’s something completely new — an experiment in making building on the protocol more accessible.
after much deliberation and giving AI the benefit of the doubt, Wikipedia editors have had enough of AI slop. New policy bans LLM generated content, periodt www.404media.co/wikipedia-ba...

From Emily Tucker “I’m saying you should resist because of the risk. The risk is what helps you remember… …that there is something that learning is for, that thinking is for, that work is for, and that you are for, the discovery of which belongs to you.
Solidarity with Emily Tucker and her open letter to students. Tucker writes, "But the great thing is, you don’t have to go along with this, and I urge you not to. You can refuse to use the chatbot. You can tell your professors that you don’t want them to use it or to require you to use it."
