No veteran should have their social security number leaked, let alone passed to a political opponent by the government.
I want to point a very important detail of this: Jeffries is holding a press conference trashing Trump. And only CSPAN is carrying it. And that is the problem with America right now. The only place Democrats get any press coverage are places where no one watches.

Waiting for Godot: The Hunt for Godot is the recently announced newest installment of the Godotverse. The long awaited sidequel follows Godot's adventures during the events of the original play.
Van Hollen: I will just say that anybody who thinks we're on the way to authoritarianism is wrong. We are there
I feel like a lot of our political moment stems down to tens of millions of Americans literally incapable of imagining something worse than someone being annoying.
#Destiny2 dropped below 9,000 active players last night, for maybe the first time ever. Things are not going great in the house that Bungie built. steamdb.info/app/1085660/...

What a(nother) disheartening day. I should have enjoyed those four years of boredom under Biden more than I did.
Watching the new Wolverine trailer and I think video games have hit the level of graphical fidelity where I'm genuinely a little uncomfortable with the violence. I started off with bouncing on goombas, now we're up to photo realistic mutilation. Maybe that's just me, though.
I don't like talking about this but as a single guy, especially as you get older, you're not really wanted or welcome in progressive spaces and I don't really want to be in maga spaces, and realistically that leaves you very few options.
one thing i think about @moiradonegan.bsky.social's point is that you never hear people go from "male loneliness" -> why don't we get men involved in collective projects of meaning for the most part. instead it's usually a discussion about how society is too "feminine"
FWIW if you want a tangible, logistical source of hope that's not grounded in platitudes, i genuinely think the whole thing comes tumbling down like an evil Jenga tower without social media reinforcing it and all the worst companies are aligning themselves with the regime here in the US.
New essay: REJECT TRANS DOOM-POSTING. It's about grief, loss, institutional failures, and the horror of the current moment. It's also a love letter to trans community, and the things we do with and for one another.
It’s outrageous that Jimmy Kimmel is still censored on millions of Maryland TVs because Sinclair won’t stand up to Trump and his FCC’s threats to free speech. Their shameful bowing to the Dear Leader comes at the expense of viewers and the principle of freedom of expression.
We need to be careful of the phrasing and framing here. The far-right Sinclair corp won't stand up to Trump; they *want* this.

Republicans can’t win on their policies, so they are trying to dodge accountability by rewriting the rules. These lawmakers are going out of their way to silence the will of the people and deliberately undermine our democracy.
The White House is continuing to pressure more states to gerrymander their congressional maps because they are afraid of voters holding them accountable for their unpopular policies. This is a decisive moment for our democracy. Take action to fight back against this power grab. ⬇️
Well, at least none of us are alone in our loneliness.
here's the more targeted data on gender men's social circles have shrunk more than women's, and fewer men report having friends they lean on for emotional support but this is clearly a whole of society problem, with secondary gendered effects www.americansurveycenter.org/why-mens-soc...
You know how sometimes, when you complain, you just want someone to listen? You don't necessarily want advice, you don't necessarily want someone to tell you what you're doing wrong, or that you're wrong to feel that way, you just want someone to listen, to act like they care. Anyway.
If they had a right-wing, “tough-on-crime” coded mayor there would be endless national profiles about him and how he finally brought sanity back to Chicago.
Now that summer is over, Chicago is still on track to have fewer homicides in 2025 than almost any other year since 2001. This is especially impressive considering that the five most violent years of the 21st century have all been in the past decade.
I think I might add "loneliness" to my filter list.
Small men want people to recognize their greatness, great men don't care about the recognition. Is it better to build up personal pyramids, or build up other people? I'm inclined to believe it's the latter. Selfishness and greed has no place in public service, or it shouldn't.
OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.
More reason to pass my bill requiring a security audit of the data systems infiltrated by the DOGE boys. What data did they access? What data did they take? What back doors did they leave?

Democrats have clearly found a higher gear in recent weeks, and it is great to see.
Jeffries: "We will not be intimidated by Vought, who's totally out of control. The OMB has been illegally shutting down parts of the govt throughout the entire year, & the notion Dems are gonna be intimidated when all he's done is send a message that Republicans are determined to hurt people ... "
We aren't supposed to see this. This is like looking upon the hidden face of God.
