I “love” how people never actually propose another approach. (Involuntary care is not another approach - ethics of the practice aside, it’s a category error, the involuntary care beds are for people with brain damage from multiple overdoses and concurrent mental illness, not just regular users)

Carney says Canada was never ready to compromise on its sovereignty, on its culture, or on protections of the French language. In French, Carney addresses the Americans directly: "These subjects were never on the table, even if the Americans tried to put them there at the last minute."

I'm crankier than usual but I go back to one of my aphorisms: if governments can't deal with obvious issues that regular people can wrap their head around, then people get more radical and stop trusting governments promising schools/community centres again and again and not delivering qualifies!
