I “love” how people never actually propose another approach. (Involuntary care is not another approach - ethics of the practice aside, it’s a category error, the involuntary care beds are for people with brain damage from multiple overdoses and concurrent mental illness, not just regular users)

ABC Vancouver councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung announces that a proposed overdose prevention site by the province is officially cancelled. Worth watching if Ken Sim spends much time talking about this and how, as his campaign has centred itself on making the B.C. government its number one enemy.

The Conservative Party of Canada’s sometimes baffling stances are explainable by the fact that it is 50% insane Only 50%! There is a lot that is normal! But their activist core are wing nuts and that drives nominations and leadership races

🍁New poll from the Angus Reid Institute shows majority of Canadians in all regions and age groups siding with Mark Carney's decision to pull out of negotiations.

I'm crankier than usual but I go back to one of my aphorisms: if governments can't deal with obvious issues that regular people can wrap their head around, then people get more radical and stop trusting governments promising schools/community centres again and again and not delivering qualifies!
