I need everyone who has ever touched generative ai to realize that its very foundation is built upon stolen material. No matter what reasoning you give, using it is harmful. Any money earned from it is tainted, as will be your credibility. Your peers are HURT by this behavior. Apologize.

I just want to mention: Even if your AI somehow runs locally and you think it's okay, it's still using trained data from a pre-existing dataset which is still full of stolen work. The sheer amount of data gen AI needs is in the hundreds of thousands, you can only get that by scraping
Flow Void@flowvoid.bsky.social · 2mo agoThe gen AIs that most are familiar with were built using stolen creative work, but there are plenty of more niche gen AIs that do not use stolen work.
90 minutes left to get all these wonderful games (including mine) and provide some relief for game devs who've been laid off by big stupid corporations who don't understand the value of human workers! itch.io/b/3802/game-...

As Spirit Crossing is starting to reboot socials, in particular TikTok, I want to remind people that it is a genAI game and they really don't want you to know that.
🌙 CamronJK 🐰 • Enby Bnuuy Vtuber • 🏳️⚧️@camronjk.com · 4mo agoSo, hey, @spryfox.bsky.social's title, Spirit Crossing, sadly does in fact use GenAI. Dev's have confirmed as much in their Discord. There is a Claude file in the game files for the playtest that started a conversation about it, and sadly, that will be the end of it for me. I'm heartbroken...
steam AI disclosures are so funny. they clearly know they're in the wrong, but they still think they can find the magic combination of words so people will make an exception for them. guys you don't understand i HAD to use AI and the game only has a LITTLE slop and i'm just a little birthday boy
News time! 🚨 On August 9th our Steam version will transform to become BIG HOPS TOGETHER. - Play the full adventure ONLINE with 8 players - Pick up and throw your friends - Tongue swing from other players - Steal items from each other's backpacks - Story and collection progress is shared
The main way in which AI has negatively impacted games industry jobs is not through actual automation of those jobs or even untrue claims about automation. It's by making capital unavailable because it's tied up in AI investments while also destroying the consumer base for video game hardware.
Filled out a survey for UK authors and illustrators, about AI Licensing and Remuneration. My personal take on this was that there's no combination of money or terms, that would make me want to license my work to train Gen AI. At the end of the survey I wrote this mqedu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...
"if you pay me maybe I'll use LESS AI" is a new desperate plea I haven't seen before

Freezing temp take: If people are dissuaded from buying your game because of the way you made it, the answer is not to hide how you made it, but to instead not make it that way.
Right now the world is full of people who want to code and write and paint and film stuff and people who want to play and read and look at and watch stuff and nobody is allowed to do any of that because some unrelated third guy isn't making enough money off the deal
