It brings me great displeasure to report this parking lot will destroy most of the remaining Waterfront Red Car tracks/depot and a historic station from the original red car. End of an era.

Electrical conduits would also be provided for future vehicle charging units. The 4,330-square-foot, two-story building at 264 E. 22nd St. and the 3,000-square-foot, single-story building at 270 E. 22nd St. would be demolished. The project calls for removing some 5,080 feet of rail and constructing an 805-square-foot, single-store restroom building at the northern end of the parking lot. Also, a new 20-foot-wide, 845-foot-long pedestrian and bike path would be constructed along the western boundary of the site, connecting Harbor Boulevard to Miner Street. and fyi today Mayor Bass' team sent out their reiteration of this Port of L.A. press release... with a prettified graphic of the $70M parking lot. My generation's legacy is to saddle the future with enough parking spaces to overheat a habitable planet.

*LA METRO* opposes SB 79 - the law that makes it possible for more people to use the transit Metro builds! They worry cities that don't like SB 79 will slow down their projects. Metro wants to exempt LA County from the law, or maybe even all of California except the Bay Area. Just totally unhinged.

Metro staff say they are pushing for several changes to SB79 - including entirely exempting L.A. County from SB79 because it's not needed because L.A. is already doing the transit thing so well! [That's *not* a quote, but that's more-or-less the gist of what Metro legislative staff said]

Figueroa Arms at Fig and 41st is such an odd building. I had assumed it had to be from the 1910s to be so weird but it’s from 1927. I can’t think of anything remotely similar to this from the 1920s in LA (or anywhere else for that matter).

My Roman Empire is the old hotel atriums that were filled with trees and fountains and now just have generic modern low maintenance furnishings. I personally spent a lot of time at the Hyatt Regency SFO airport (pics 3 and 4) as a teen.
