With a heavy heart, we said goodbye to Sabine this morning. She brought us love and laughter for seven years, and each and every day with her was a blessing. We desperately wish we'd gotten more time with her; her departure was sudden and quick and left us with a big old hole in our hearts.

Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. I picked this up at around 11 or 12 and, despite being an advanced reader at that age, still got... uh... pretty educated by it. This is the book I thought of when I rebuffed my mother's attempt to give me the Talk at 16.
