My wife used to babysit kids as a teenager in the 80s for $1/hour per kid. That'd be $3-4/hour in todays dollars. The minimum wage when my wife babysat was 3.35/hour and in my state it's $15/hour. We never found a teen sitter for my son that asked for less than minimum wage, often more.

Imagine asking someone 10 years ago which one of these dudes would get cast as King Agamemnon in a prestige Odyssey adaptation.

Pretty sure this is Nolan's masterpiece. I thought Oppenheimer had 2 jaw-dropping scenes, but didn't quite deliver. The Odyssey, short of a single CGI effect (in a movie full of them) I thought was lackluster, was basically perfect start to finish.

It's like, it's not just about the process. All the little micro decisions you are making when you do art effect the end result and of you are not actually making them the result will suffer. This would be easy to understand if they actually made something.

Trump doesn’t force people to do bad things. All he did was show people they could get away with being horrible if they really wanted to, and a lot of powerful people decided they didn’t need to pretend anymore. Especially those in influential positions who could push back but did not.

I'm an elected here in Maine. My experiecne was that Platner was just shockingly popular. Especially with seniors. And often with people who had (even recently) voted Republican - including for Collins. The most Platner-skeptics I ever encountered was in Maine DSA, who never endorsed him.
