This, plus I’m worried about new clinicians who use AI tools and don’t have the knowledge or experience yet to spot when AI has coughed up false information.

The conversation about AI in health stuff is always about the risks of patients using AI. I'm more worried about possibilities like every appointment gets inspected by an insurance company in detail so that if a patient uses the slightly wrong words about something their care is denied.

I get visceral flashbacks every time someone says this kind of shit. Bodies being stacked like cordwood in freezer vans to make room for more people in the NYC hospitals. Waiting to hear if friends had died alone because we weren't allowed to be at their side. Nurse neighbors coming home to sob.

If you're scared about being the only person wearing a mask, I can tell you that most people do not care. I've been masking for the past 6 years. I've travelled to several different countries in that time. I've never had Covid and I've endured a handful of snarky comments at most. Be brave.

If you haven't been masking, give it a try. What do you have to lose? Just wear one in crowds and on planes, trains, and buses. Find a style that fits, so you don't futz with it. You don't have to get sick all the time.

I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary
