media when maga wins an election: we must travel the country and speak to these voters and extend empathy to them and give credence to their bigotry and false beliefs media when the left wins an election: is this the end of the american experiment

The President of the United States is sundowning again and claiming the word “affordability” did not exist prior to the media making it up when he retook office in January 2025. Man, if only we had a specific constitutional amendment to address issues like this…

Trump: "And as illegal aliens go home, the cost of rent, groceries, and other staples is coming down very fast ... it was a word they devised -- 'affordability'"

Monkeypaw Productions posted a few days ago about how Hulk and Spider-Man belong in horror. One of their examples was a comic I wrote, “I Walked With A Spider” from Edge of Spiderverse #4, all the way back in 2014, featuring amazing artwork by Elia Bonetti…

Today seems like a good day to remind the #horror community about the Nazi Bar Problem, and why we don't let ONE stupid motherfucker in and make excuses for them. We shut that shit down. Don't back down. Integrity matters. Don't sell out to fit in.

A dizzying, disorienting must-have for readers looking to emotionally decimate themselves, “Nightjars,” by @michaelwehunt.bsky.social is an utter triumph of high altitude horror. A vampire story that leaves its readers lightheaded also. @stmartinspress.bsky.social

So apparently that HWA pro-AI newsletter also uses Indigenous water rights issues as a prop, trivializing the activism by Indigenous peoples to protect our water including specific anti-data centre actions. I guess they figured why not alienate Indigenous horror writers while they’re at it?

“Sure. Sure.

Yes, we know AI is using up resources. So does driving a car or a planes so does building a new home. So do a lot of things. Humans have always used up Earth’s resources and usually not nicely. There are reservations and other Indigenous communities in Canada that have never had clean water and have been ravaged by pipeline construction. But somehow that’s been okay for the past fifty or a hundred years, and very few people scream about that. But suddenly, AI is the enemy, not everything else we’ve been doing all along. Suddenly YOUR water might not be clean, so it’s a Big Deal”.

My post about that AI essay in the HWA newsletter I'm so sad that we're all spending part of our day dealing with this. Think of all the creative energy this community lost today because of this garbage. Take-home message: AI sucks. Keep fighting the good fight against it. ❤️

Society of Authors: trustee repping org's "anti-AI" stance goes on radio, talks about using ChatGPT for research HWA: releases milquetoast policy on "AI" use, appoints President/trustee(s?) who use & flog it SFWA: [enough said] Give me a better option & I WILL GO DOOR TO DOOR to get subscribers

Chuck beat me to the blog post on this one, but perhaps not unexpectedly so! LOL We cover a lot of similar ground, but his is certainly more humorous. And YAY! We both consider genAI users quislings! I'm kinda proud about that. 😁 It's a great read!

Professional writer organizations should not send out pro-AI propaganda in the form of tantrum-having "essays" to their members, and I don't think that's controversial.

Abdul El-Sayed won the Michigan Democratic primary. Just posting this plainly for other west coast ppl waking up to a ton of headlines and posts about how he sort of actually really lost bc the polls were wrong about how much he would win by. Sweet Israeli dreams to Hayley Stevens.
