"What Ever Became of TV Violence?" Well, the episode where George & Weezy dismembered Bentley's corpse and hung his head on the wall (depicted below) resulted in a clampdown by censors

I dig this guy in THE PITT and was beyond delighted to see him with a meaty role in READY OR NOT 2.
Shawn Hatosy talks to “Obsessed: The Podcast” about the role that changed his life at 50.
I’m so very happy to have helped make this giant, orange douchecanoe just a little bit more angry. Die mad about it, fascist scum!
Trump: "When I watch Abdul, he's full of shit"
media when maga wins an election: we must travel the country and speak to these voters and extend empathy to them and give credence to their bigotry and false beliefs media when the left wins an election: is this the end of the american experiment
Did up an old fashioned with some lemon and am feeling better about life this evening than I was this morning. This leads me to conclude that I need to start drinking in the morning more often.
The President of the United States is sundowning again and claiming the word “affordability” did not exist prior to the media making it up when he retook office in January 2025. Man, if only we had a specific constitutional amendment to address issues like this…
Trump: "And as illegal aliens go home, the cost of rent, groceries, and other staples is coming down very fast ... it was a word they devised -- 'affordability'"
Monkeypaw Productions posted a few days ago about how Hulk and Spider-Man belong in horror. One of their examples was a comic I wrote, “I Walked With A Spider” from Edge of Spiderverse #4, all the way back in 2014, featuring amazing artwork by Elia Bonetti…
Today seems like a good day to remind the #horror community about the Nazi Bar Problem, and why we don't let ONE stupid motherfucker in and make excuses for them. We shut that shit down. Don't back down. Integrity matters. Don't sell out to fit in.
Just got NetGalley approval for my first John Gwynne book. I hear this guy's pretty OK! I'm excited to read it, but unsure if it's going to be my next read, or one of the forthcoming Hailey Piper books, or a supposedly sexy rom-com with zombies (but not, like, *with* zombies, you know?) Decisions! 🤔
After doing art for posters & pins for his movies like HALLOWEEN & THE THING and working on the 4K release packaging for his IN THE MOUTH OF DARKNESS, I'm super happy to reveal I did a cover for Horror Maestro @thehorrormaster.bsky.social's & @officialsandyking.bsky.social very first GN: CATHEDRAL!
A dizzying, disorienting must-have for readers looking to emotionally decimate themselves, “Nightjars,” by @michaelwehunt.bsky.social is an utter triumph of high altitude horror. A vampire story that leaves its readers lightheaded also. @stmartinspress.bsky.social

New book review is up! EMBER AND STEEL by @dkmorgan.bsky.social is an adventurous fantasy set in a dark world, with a touch of romance and a neurodivergent main character. Read the full review: fanfiaddict.com/review-ember...
Phenomenal review! And that quoted line is one hell of a zinger, too!
"If this is what it takes to get a rom-com greenlit these days, maybe we should just let them die. Death with dignity is surely a better fate for the genre than fascist capitulation." Zero stars for this piece of shit movie. My review of ONE NIGHT ONLY for @ebertvoices.bsky.social
Holy shit. Now this is fucking heartening! 👏👏👏
Update:
So apparently that HWA pro-AI newsletter also uses Indigenous water rights issues as a prop, trivializing the activism by Indigenous peoples to protect our water including specific anti-data centre actions. I guess they figured why not alienate Indigenous horror writers while they’re at it?
Of all the things to admit on the internet, “I don’t know how bananas work” is one of the funniest
Spoken like a man who has never had to shop for himself.
Time to bring back this meme I made a while back. If being against generative AI in the arts is gatekeeping, then I guess I’m a proud gatekeeper.
My post about that AI essay in the HWA newsletter I'm so sad that we're all spending part of our day dealing with this. Think of all the creative energy this community lost today because of this garbage. Take-home message: AI sucks. Keep fighting the good fight against it. ❤️
Society of Authors: trustee repping org's "anti-AI" stance goes on radio, talks about using ChatGPT for research HWA: releases milquetoast policy on "AI" use, appoints President/trustee(s?) who use & flog it SFWA: [enough said] Give me a better option & I WILL GO DOOR TO DOOR to get subscribers
This is just one of the many reasons we politely declined to review Eli Roth's latest.
Here's Eli Roth retconning his lie that he didn't use AI in the new film, when it became obvious he had used it he made up some lie about misspeaking - www.polygon.com/eli-roth-ice...
Chuck beat me to the blog post on this one, but perhaps not unexpectedly so! LOL We cover a lot of similar ground, but his is certainly more humorous. And YAY! We both consider genAI users quislings! I'm kinda proud about that. 😁 It's a great read!
Professional writer organizations should not send out pro-AI propaganda in the form of tantrum-having "essays" to their members, and I don't think that's controversial.
Up at the blog, my response to Sèphera Girón and the HWA’s Pro-Slop Stance: www.michaelpatrickhicks.com/blog/in-resp... (Fair warning, it's a long one.) I am tired, y'all. So fucking tired.
In Response to Sèphera Girón and the HWA’s Pro-Slop Stance — Michael Patrick Hicks
Tuesday night, author Holly Lyn Walrath shared on BlueSky that, “There is a lengthy pro-AI screed in the latest HWA newsletter and it is . . . a mood,” and provided the four screenshots shown below ...

My answer is LOL ROFL (dickbrain) The terminally AI-pilled can't even *imagine* some people have *never* asked stochastic parrots to cheat at their job for them.
Abdul El-Sayed won the Michigan Democratic primary. Just posting this plainly for other west coast ppl waking up to a ton of headlines and posts about how he sort of actually really lost bc the polls were wrong about how much he would win by. Sweet Israeli dreams to Hayley Stevens.
