[Benoit Blanc during a Reacher Christmas episode crossover] Listen, son, I myself am of the conviction that violence is the crude weapon of an incurious mind, but I will admit that my gigantic friend here makes the most convincing argument I've yet heard on the virtues of expediency through force.

[benoit blanc in true detective] now i know you think time is a flat circle, but if i may, you’re thinking of a clock

S1. What if a man were big? S2. What if a man were big and someone tried to kill him? S3. What if a man were big, and there was a bigger man? S4. What if a man were big, and he found a small cat?

Every time I watch an episode of Reacher I'm reminded that someone here (I forget whom, sorry) quipped that the entire premise of the show is "what if a man...were large?" and god if that isn't true.

“There’s a new Mr. Beast book.” You bolt awake in your workshop in Mainz. It’s 1450. You’re Johannes Gutenberg, and you’ve changed your mind. The future cannot come to pass. Your printing press must burn.

The flood of commentary about how bad, nasty, etc. Canada is for not submitting to a trade deal (?!?) is, to my eye, transparently an attempt to move the discussion away from Iran going terribly. The media, of course, are deeply compromised by billionaire owners and thus are playing along.

An all-timer for me. A perfect distillation of the fantasy, with incredible free-form play, but just enough specific objective (find your family being the big one) to make you want to optimize and replay. Only experiences I've had close to it are Mount and Blade and Star Sector (both rule).

Watching the tangerine totalitarian manufacture new crises to distract people from the last disaster is exhausting. Lashing out at an “easy” win in a desperate bid to be the big tough administration before even wiping the bloodied nose from the last go. Carney’s doing the right thing. 🇨🇦

Thanks to some random neurons firing and reminding me this existed: allow me to present the only Garfield comic strip to ever make me laugh out loud, and almost certainly not for the reasons Davis intended.

Three panels of the Garfield comic:
1) Pitch Black

2) The light is flicked on, showing a bedroom. An older man (the dad) is wearing PJs, and Jon is in bed. Garfield lays atop him looking stunned at the sudden light. Jon's dad asks if Jon is awake. Jon: "Of course not, dad, it's 5AM! What are you doing up?"

3) Jon's dad says "I GOTTA MILK SOMETHING!" as Garfield rises and marches off, saying "I'm leaving."

4) What happens next is left to the reader's imagination, and, likely, represents a purity test which I failed.

Someone told me "Bluesky is just like Twitter." I argued that was untrue on the basis that last time I had a Twitter account most times I got a new follower their bio said "single & looking for fun" & here when I get a new follower it tends to say something like "professor of rare moths".
