The 1980s were a different era when it came to box office hits; #TheWitchesOfEastwick came in #10 for the year, as one of seven R-rated films to make the top ten. #FlicksForAll
There are actually several other adaptations of #TheWitchesOfEastwick out there, seemingly drawing more from the movie than the novel. In 2000 it was the basis for a West End mega-musical in London that ran 17 months. #FlicksForAll
Either something wicked this way comes or Juliette Binoche is getting ready to open a chocolate shop #TheWitchesOfEastwick #FlicksForAll
#TheWitchesOfEastwick practically smells of pumpkin pie spice before its time but it was a June release in 1987. Other movies that month included Harry and the Hendersons, The Untouchables, Predator, Roxanne, Dragnet, Spaceballs, and Benji the Hunted. #FlicksForAll
@allflicker.bsky.social Welp, just started #TheWitchesOfEastwick up on Tubi and the first ad was for Liberty Mutual, gonna be a wild ride kids #FlicksForAll
I see that DIGGER is playing under the AMC Theaters' "Artisan Films" branding but c'mon, they gave the same moniker to MICHAEL, what does that say?
Fun fact: This was determined a few years ago to be the single most-aired Christmas-set movie on the UK terrestrial channels during the holiday season. (4th most popular overall, but the top three aren't seasonally-themed.) www.theguardian.com/film/2023/de...

"originality" is a misleading word, i think. occasionally art will arrive that finds a completely new perspective, but mostly it's about taking basic truths and finding new ways to frame them to get past an audience's innate defenses and shake them around a little.

This Onion bit from last year is funny but would have been funnier if not for the fact that Jackson's estate actually did a Halloween-themed compilation CD in 2017 that realllllly stretched to fill things out. theonion.com/report-guy-w...

This is about Hexed specifically, but could apply to a lot of Disney’s recent and upcoming output across all its brands.
I’m not sure anyone truly ever hopes a movie turns out bad (what a weird thing to waste your energy on if true) but Disney has definitely shown us what to expect from them lately so it’s hard to get one’s hopes up. They seem to expect our business instead of trying to earn it.
Really though, anytime an insurance company denies your claim they should have to look you in the eye while showing you their budget for "funny" advertising that week.
I firmly believe a pi hole-style ad blocker that specifically stopped liberty mutual ads from being seen during football games would lower the temperature in this country
This is something I've been complaining about with Disney Studios in particular for about the last 10 years, but all of the animation is way too literal. It feels very informed by video game animation.
OFFICIAL CLIP | #HEXED An impulsive and unconventional teenage girl named Billie discovers secret magical abilities which, once unleashed, hurtle her into a spectacle-filled journey out of suburbia and into a vast witch realm called Hexe. #Disney HEXED releases in Theaters November 25.
Well, now I know why they announced still more layoffs at Disney yesterday...
What are everyone’s thoughts about the new clip they dropped for Hexed?
Animation is not cinema anymore.

I probably won’t see Digger but it would’ve been an A+ Letterman topic. “Hey Paul, uh, you seen Digger?” etc.
DIGGER being such a MORTDECAI-sized bomb that it threatens the sale to Paramount would be a very funny result to all this
