I'm Mike. I run a quietly anti-fascist/anti-capitalist bookmobile in a very red county in the Midwest. Talkin' punk rock/DIY, librarianship, books, records, baseball, heavy metal, guitars/amps, beer/bourbon. Band guy. Indiana but trying.

Our first show, happening tonight at the Melody Inn in Indianapolis. Afterglow and Phyllis are also rockin'. Starts at 7:30, we play last (supposedly at/around 9:30). $7, 21+. If you like rock 'n' roll in the vein of MC5, Ramones, Gluecifer, Zeke, and New Bomb Turks, ya might dig us. Come find out.

I've got a new band with some friends of mine and our first show is now upcoming. A self-titled 4-song 7" EP is in the hands of the pressing plant and should be ready for our second Indy show on 10/30, but for now: if you live in the Indy area and like rockin, maybe come check Negative Hustle out?

First Negative Hustle show is on the books at the Melody Inn (Indianapolis) on Thursday, 9/3. Volume, velocity, and verbosity are what you can expect. If you like late '70s punk rock crossed with late '90s Scandinavian punk rock 'n' roll, you might dig us. Very rad logo art by @phineas.bsky.social

A flyer for a show happening at the Melody Inn in Indianapolis on Thursday, September 3rd featuring the bands Negative Hustle, Phyllis, and Afterglow. The show starts at 7:30 pm and costs $7 and is restricted to people over 21 years old. Negative Hustle's logo is featured prominently and is a winged panther with tortoise shell cat markings and a Explorer-style guitar wrappped in her tail, small crown on her head. The art was made by Phineas X Jones, who you should hire to make art for you because he does great work and is a cool human being that deserves your money.

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

we have got to start being meaner to people who are still fans of harry potter. i don't give a shit what you were going through when you read it. that is not your "comfort character" that is a wizard cop written by a mold-addled racist transphobe

FWIW, he was out there for at least 7 songs and he absolutely did justice to the songs he sang lead vocals on, but Magnolia with Will is absolutely incredible on its own too. Such a cathartic, magical, special night.

Earlier this year MJ Lenderman covered Songs: Ohia's "Just Be Simple" for the tribute comp ‘I Will Swim To You.’ Last night he covered another song by the late, great Jason Molina alongside Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. in Asheville.

It must feel amazing to launch a dinger out of Truist Park. Sending a rocket through the front window of a 300-seat Bonefish Grill in the adjacent mall, all the Vineyard Vines dudes in there are so scared at the sound that they instantly jump into their Sorcerer-size SUVs and drive 55 minutes home.

Americans have really got to unlearn the propagandist indoctrination that socialism is bad. It means that everyone has what they need, resources are shared, and we care for the earth & those around us. We've been taught to hate it so capitalists can keep exploiting us and working us to death.

Central State Brewing already made a keg of this radler using their gose (Garden) and Mountain Dew in 2019 for my last band's record release party. [Dropping in a shot of gin put it over the top in a surprisingly delicious way.]
