Spotted this beauty at the very end of a hike yesterday. The background is kind of ugly but hopefully the Peacock's beauty makes up for it. 👋

From a cartoonist who writes stupidly long comics: I force myself to do a little bit every day, even if I don’t want to or feel like shit or don’t feel like I have time. Even just opening a script on my phone and writing one line. Ink one panel. Just do something
Writer friends with full time day jobs: how do you find enough time and energy to complete large scale creative projects around the edges?
"People say it must be great to be so strong and free," said the werewolf, "but they don't trust you." "And wolves have their own packs," the witch said, "and you smell weird to them." "How did you know?" "We are many, us living in the between. All we can do is be ourselves, as well we can."
Sipping my coffee ☕️ and thinking about these marvellous Minoan cups! They look so modern it’s incredible to think they were made by Bronze Age potters some 3,800 years ago! Heraklion Archaeological Museum, Crete. 📷 by me #Archaeology
Magical video by Mike Nulty (@nuttynulty on IG) of a whale shark (Rhincodon typus) off the coast of Baja, swimming through reflective plankton or debris that look like stars. Space whale-shark! 🦈✨ Let's talk about /actual/ glowing sharks, the lantern sharks of family Etmopteridae. (📷: Mike Nulty)
Here is an elf although they might also be called a goblin or fairy. As you can see, they follow the very latest sleepytime fashions that are popular amongst many of the goblin-folk.
Yasuda-san deserves all the flowers!
She was Hayao Miyazaki's "right-hand" collaborator from the '70s onward. Her name was Michiyo Yasuda -- the best color designer in animation. Yasuda's eye for color gave Ghibli's work a totally different look. We explore her methods: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-artist...

Why it should be illegal to hoard extreme wealth: you can shut down any criticism because you'll always have more lawyer money than them. The damage this wretched woman does is MASSIVE because she funds lawsuits and legislation campaigns. Don't watch that fucking show, it's $ for shit like this.
The fact that J.K. Rowling successfully bullied Amnesty International into taking down a report that accurately called out her attack on trans people, especially trans women, is so repulsive and such a display of the power of her money, and her choice to put her vast fortune behind persecution.
1/7 This video shows a large #ammonite #fossil about 71 million years old, with a well-developed iridescent layer. The specimen comes from Southern Alberta, Canada and illustrates a case of exceptional shell preservation. 🧪 ⚛️ #geology #Paleontology #science
Kids need/deserve traumatic films. Films that show death or lasting consequences that aren't resolved almost instantly. Fear, anger, grief and frustration should be part of kids movies. Kids arent stupid, they feel big emotions just like adults, they deserve to see those experiences reflected back.
«The fact that Chat Control is moving forward against the will of the majority of voting MEPs is a farce and damages democracy.» I’m so tired of politicians running the errands of Big Tech, building out dystopian surveillance systems pretending it’s about kids.
Chat Control 1.0 passed despite a majority voting against it (314:276), ushering in suspicionless mass scanning of your private communications until 2028. Regrettably, Roberta Metsola's brazen and undemocratic actions jeopardise the legitimacy of the EU. The battle against Chat Control 2.0 begins!
maybe it'd be better to say "be proud of your art". It'd shift the emphasis away from this nebulous feeling of satisfaction/happiness and towards the much more tangible pride in just.. having done something. "Be proud of your art because you were passionate enough to spend time on it"
some tips for actually doing this: -shitty is better than incomplete -you are the ONLY one who can do what YOU'RE doing -people LOVE seeing the artist's hand in their work, esp in the age of genAi -the more you say "this sucks," the more you believe it. the opposite is also true
when you're surrounded by what seems like everybody admitting that they feel awful about themselves, it can start to feel normal and expected that you also feel awful about yourself. but actually, it's okay to not want that! you can feel better! it takes work, and effort, but it's on the table!
