Screaming into the void about planes, trains, automobiles, architecture and lots of other random stuff since 2023.

Heads up that I’ll be putting up friend’s Wrangler for sale this weekend. I’m not using FB or CL so word of mouth through here would be appreciated. 2005, 6 cylinder auto, one-owner, 115k miles, ORANGE, hardtop, completely stock. Photos once I get it detailed on Friday. Passed smog last week.

Early interest check, but any UK folks after an MX-5? I have plans next year that involve it not being around, and as I'm unlikely to drive it much in the winter, I'll be aiming to sell it soon.

the fatal mistake of Ted Lasso was they believed landing the anxiety and divorce stuff in season 1 meant the show was also a Great Television Series with Things to Say About People and Society. the new season works because, so far at least, it’s just trying to be a cute, funny show.

The Handley Page Hastings looked set for decades of RAF service, then the Bristol Britannia and Lockheed Hercules arrived and changed everything. In aviation, progress waits for nobody!

Mayor of NYC is a huge position of power, maybe more powerful than anyone in the country (outside of the White House, ofc) and if regular voters start seeing you can do this job without selling out, they're gonna expect that from all their representatives. Totally gonna sink establishment trash

If Canada wants to be more competitive we should be trying to build our existing pipeline of swindlers but instead of swindling they just funnel it into R&D . Clearly the future belongs to whoever can direct the hopes and dreams money funnel to something useful

Air quality. I grew up in the Los Angeles basin in the 70s and 80s and remember having to stay inside because the smog was so bad - Stage 2 smog alerts, they were called. Apparently they haven't had one of those since 1988. Haven't had a stage one smog alert since 2003.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

That’s how bad crime was 40 years ago, people still panic about it but the fact they have to make shoplifting, being homeless, and teens getting together the scariest things around demonstrates how much less violent crime there is at the moment,

Dems need to be EXTREMELY LOUD in warning the investment banks and their executives: Anyone signing up for the bribery-for-insider-trading API will go to jail. Any company implicated in it will be dissolved. We have to be clear this shit is simply not allowed.

One thing about this Max Miller story that I don't see much talked about is the way he seems to have surreptitiously taped his wife and daughter for many years. In a way, it's even creepier than the violence allegations.

I feel like naturally aspirated V6s have fallen out of favor in new vehicles. Its a shame bc around 300hp with no turbo lag or complexity is a great power option for most larger vehicle applications. Midsize and up SUVs/Crossovers, pickups up to 1/2ton, vans/minivans.

not sure of the symbolism of a fox taking a dump on my copy of the FT this morning does the animal kingdom not know the Washington Post is a thing that exists? or is there a deeper meaning the universe is trying to convey?
