if you're using AI to make your videos why the fuck would i watch your videos? and i'm not even saying that from an anti-AI standpoint (although yes fuck AI), i'm saying it from a "there are 2350820 other channels also putting out generic-ass personalityless drivel i could watch instead" standpoint

Normalize post-capitalist futures! There are so many issues worth discussing - even after we overcome capitalism. So many unrelated but crucial ideologies we need to figure out to productively reclaim our future. Anyway, here's the full intro for "a permanent echo" #indiedev #indiegames #cyberpunk
well, you could always go back to the old-fashioned methods everybody used in *checks notes* october 2022

Assuming Will Wright kept 25% of his EA stock from the Maxis buyout, his shares were just cashed out for ~$25mil
EA officially goes private tonight, meaning: - EA will no longer trade on the NASDAQ for the first time in 36 years - All stockholders of EA (including many employees) will receive $210/share - EA will take on $18 billion (!) in debt, putting it on the hook to pay ~$1.8 billion/year in interest
EA just announced Bonesaw, a game where you play a noble and handsome prince who has no choice but to murder journalists who disagree with him
An insane video game-related Lost Media find has quietly popped up on YouTube. Two episodes of "Say Powww!", a 1979 game show about video games that only aired in some markets. People in studio and over the phone played Intellivision (!!) games. Predates Starcade!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=29tJ...
There’s a guy on TikTok who posts just him taking a pizza out of the oven every day with tongs and all of the comments are about how their day is ruined from having watched this
A baby boy born in 2011 will live, on average, nearly eight years longer than one born in 1981. A baby girl will live five years longer. (UK ONS) In the 1980s, you were 4-5x more likely to be killed in a workplace accident. (UK HSE) Between 1995 and 2023, violent crime decreased by 83%. (UK CSEW)
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
Hitting a milestone, about to scan my 500th issue of Famitsu! Scanning all these has been VERY time consuming but I think it's been well worth it for research purposes now and in the future. Hoping I keep my sanity for 500 more! Thanks again to @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social for loaning these.
For the first time since March 22, 1996 this notice is A LIE.

Rebecca Heineman's source code disks for Apple II, Apple IIGS, and C64 versions of "Tass Times in Tonetown" were recently imaged at KansasFest 2026 and are now archived. Burger Becky was an incredible and beloved engineer and raconteur who we sadly lost last year. archive.org/details/tass...

After four days of bruteforcing and spending over $900, the FULL version of FFVII Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode has been preserved by @yuvi.app! The game's SD card data, which it fully relies on, remained encrypted until now. Despite being 9MB, the game contains cutscenes and voice acting.

genuinely, this is a huge missing link I the development of Japanese adventure games and the whole visual novel genre its influence is felt in so many of the most popular works even today I wrote a huge piece on it and the way it's influenced the genre canonfire.net/post/7022178...

An English fan translation of "Kamaitachi no Yoru" for SFC has been released by "ButThouMust": github.com/ButThouMust/...
Kamaitachi no Yoru is simply one of the most important Japanese games in history, period. In the historical trajectory of novel games, if Otogirisou, Chunsoft's previous gane, is Pac-Land, this is Super Mario Brothers. It is that foundational in the storytelling and design paradigms it codified.
I'm trembling while writing this: Kamaitachi no yoru—not the PC remake, not the iOS port, but the actual original SFC version—has been translated at last by ButThouMust, who graciously brought us an English patch for Otogirisou in the past. This is HISTORICAL.
The stupid thing is that they could make something of this situation if they weren't so, so bad at this. Bill of materials went up so you need to add £170 to the RRP? Bundle download codes for '£200 worth' of older games. Skyrim, Outer Worlds, Gears, Rare Replay, Avowed, Spyro. £203 right there.
Ambassador with this Wario Land you're really spoiling us.
Ferrero Rochero boxes are perfect for storing Game Boy games.
Could someone please inform the games industry (not just Microsoft) that cost of living has spiked across the board and nobody has any money left? I don't think they understand that no-one can afford to buy these things any more. That after we've bought groceries nobody has any money left.

After Richard Paul Jones proved too capitalist for Jeff Minter, his Interceptor Micros became an early British games success story. In 1987, its success continued thanks to Colin Swinbourne's smart way with building on Spectrum classics. New post on Joe Blade: www.superchartisland.com/joe-blade
