The people espousing these beliefs are a vanishingly small minority and I hope they are swiftly forgotten. dork ass losers
WARNING! TACO BELL ADVISES NEW TACO SO GOOD IT IS BEYOND THEIR CONTROL, COULD REPLACE ALL OTHER FOOD BEFORE HUMANS CAN CONTAIN IT. URGES CONGRESS TO GIVE THEM MORE MONEY SO THEY CAN DEVELOP ANTI-TACO SAFEGUARDS
@jacobburgess.bsky.social Hey, sorry to tag out of the blue, but do you have any recommendations for bread makers?
The PM today said he will allow government data to be consumed by US AI companies which raises real questions of consent, privacy and surveillance risk for every Australian. It's hard to see how that's in the public interest.
Le Guin on the idea that there is a secret to getting good at writing.
A reminder that the Australian govt rushed through a law to keep kids safe from social media inspired by bullshit from this charlatan.
Damning evidence of this being correct: Cranky oddballs like Haidt being treated as deep thinkers with helpful things to say and interviewed by broadsheet newspapers
Being barefacedly explicit about the fact that: - She and her cohort consider transition to be a negative outcome in and of itself - They conceptualise the purpose of "talk therapy" as discouraging patients from transitioning - Transness is considered as both 'disabling' and 'unnatural'
Cass is just sticking to her guns because she’s adamant that she’s right out of stubborn pride and arrogance. If she actually cared about harm, she wouldn’t have recommended restricting them in the first place based on overly-restrictive, biased selection of research www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Like, I genuinely feel like I’m going mad. Brianna Ghey wasn’t killed by social media. She was saved by social media, where she was able to find community with other young trans people. She was able to make online friends with people like herself. It was those offline who murdered her.
At this point, I genuinely believe the entire public is being actively gaslit by both the media, and Esther Ghey herself, into forgetting that Brianna Ghey was murdered, by people she knew from school, in real life, who were partly influenced by transphobia, fuelled by the media and politicians.
By far the biggest problem with delegating judgement to machines is the people who own the machines can tune them towards outcomes they prefer but those who don't own anything can't. It's not the technology. It's a transfer of decision making power from rational accountable systems to capital.
Here's me. "Australia is manufacturing explosives for Israel’s atrocities"
Australia is manufacturing explosives for Israel’s atrocities - The Shot
Australia’s complicity in Israel’s atrocities has many ugly layers. It’s worse than the bomb release mechanism on the F-35 death...

dear god just saw how an it looks when someone's hit with the account wide adult content warning and it's fucking MISERABLE blurred icon, blurred banner, every single post is hidden, even text posts, and posts that have images require you to hit unhide TWICE for the text and image, fucking nightmare
If you have nsfw set to "hide" I implore you to set it to "warn". You still won't see anything except for a blurred post Otherwise once they roll out account-wide adult content labeling a whole lot of people including me are going to disappear from your timelines, even our sfw text posts
Bsky is apparently gonna start flagging whole accounts as nsfw soon so if you don't already know about your moderation settings, highly suggest switching nsfw from Hide to Warn; otherwise many creators will completely vanish from your timeline when they roll this out.
My wife had to report to a Sarina Russo office many years ago. She was offered and accepted a job from a friend, nothing to do with Russo. She told them that they were no longer required and was asked to sign a form to say they got her the job so they could claim payment. They're all shysters.
The Challenge for Labor to do anything better than Morrisons gov is still ongoing
Mutual obligations 'will differ based on how close people are to the labour market'—again, this what the system was under jobactive until 2022. She could tell us absolutely nothing about how any of this will work or if there will be job search quotas or what they'll look like, as there's no plan.
It is not a "major overhaul" if you keep the mutual obligations system in place. That's punishment as usual. And it's punishment that's been found to be unlawful - which this puff piece completely omits
Labor to announce easing of jobseeker mutual obligations requirements in major overhaul of employment system
Explainer: Unemployment is caused by Govt policy in order to keep wages low leading to lower inflation and lower prices. NAIRU is the Non-Accelerating Inflation Rate of Unemployment. It's the level of unemployment the Govt wants & the RBA increases the cash rate to achieve.

If you’re a journalist and get to interview any Labor MPs I’m begging you to ask them about the people that are unemployed because of NAIRU and why they should be left in poverty

Zhang Shan won the gold medal for the mixed skeet shooting event in the 1992 Olympics. The International Shooting Union *immediately* banned women from competing against men.
Fun fact: Women's sports are segregated not to protect women, but to protect *men* from losing *to* a woman. Don't believe me? Look up Jackie Mitchell. Struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Then suddenly women were unfit to play baseball.

The existence of women's sports is a historical one that was reinforced at regular intervals by patriarchal assumptions that women are more fragile and need to be "protected" It doesn't reflect any statistical truth (1/2)
we're good at being animals who live in the world, and so we don't pay that much attention to it. we're worse at language. and much much worse at logic. so we pay attention to those things and we think of them as what intelligence is. we've solved chess, we're still working on "loading a dishwasher"
As a trans engineer who left the space industry in order to feel safe enough to transition: oof.
congratulations to the astronauts who get credit for a moon mission using rocket development work by trans women who had to quit their job and flee the state of florida and can’t celebrate this win with their coworkers
I'm one of those trans women. I worked ground ops for Artemis I. I am torn between celebrating the success of my friends and peers and grieving how my dream of working for NASA was shattered by hateful assholes in Tallahassee

Quite often they haven't! A lot of sports have only been segregated relatively recently (like since the 80s or 90s) and they often brought in segregation after women beat men in mixed events
The inclusion of trans people calls into question why these sports are even segregated by sex in the first place when the only answer anyone really has is "because they always have been."
people simply love it when you storm out of the gates to support an illegal war, then lecture them about personal responsibility after it makes their lives worse
The argument that public transport can't be free because 'we need the data' is just so absurd. You can figure out how much many people use what public transport options without making them pay for it!
Queenslanders hit with millions in fines since 50c fares introduced
The penalties would help authorities recover $7,070.50 in revenue they otherwise would have collected if the commuters had paid their 50 cent fare.
