game devs: what are the myths that a lot of players of games think are true about making games that are completely untrue? If you could snap your fingers and they suddenly all knew the truth about it what would it be?

There is often a reason why certain features, genres, or combinations thereof are rare or haven't been done before. Sometimes there are intractable core design issues. Sometimes it just sucks and isn't fun

As someone who started their career in the ps2/xbox/gen era - the problems you were trying to tackle at that point were much much smaller. The fundamental platform limitations constrained the distance between what a team could theoretically ship and what they could actually ship. Compute power and

I'm very sorry to announce that I was one of the devs affected by the Obsidian layoffs today. At least for four years, it was a beautiful dream. If you need a writer with experience in everything from the fog of war to romance - especially if you're open to remote - please get in touch.

been in the industry for 12 years and never had a game i worked on in stores and sad to realize it'll probably never happen. just one of those dreams since being a kid who wanted to make games.

people claim to want "indie games with worse graphics made by people paid more to work less" right up until said indie game costs more than $20
