NEW: @apnews.com confirms that ICE has begun electronically "disappearing" people in the agency's custody who have final orders of removal. As of last week, anyone jailed by ICE with a final order of removal will NOT appear in the ICE Online Detainee Locator System, making them effectively vanish.

Yes, this is as deeply screwed up as it sounds.

This is a real good thread and illustrates one of many reasons I am sad Talarico threw trans children under the bus - he almost certainly didn't need to. Texans don't want to ban trans girls from playing sports, they want clean water to drink.
Saul Elbein@saulelbein.bsky.social · 5d agoIf you're at all interested in climate or energy not paying attention to the Texas Railroad Commission — our state's confoundingly-named oil and gas regulator — I don't even know what to tell you. Except that things are getting *crazy* there in a way that are a serious risk for Texas Republicans.
It's easy to do this when they don't control Congress and the White House. I'll be genuinely waiting to see this legislation re-introduced in 2029, and I mean that. There are times I love being wrong, and this would be one of them.

I feel for the bluesky devs because internet moderation at any scale is a near impossible task, but if your rules create an environment where harassment is tolerated as long as you are sufficiently polite about it, you have done something wrong
Aaron Rodericks@aaron.bsky.team · 7d agoAre they threatening trans users directly? No. Trans folks in the US have been targeted repeatedly. That's awful and you have my sympathy. Within the context of a single post we wouldn't consider it a direct threat or targeting a protected category. Ie send trans folks to concentration camps.
I love this choice for them because you know that Trump will burn their lives to the ground. Even knowing that a GOP wipeout threatens him in multiple ways, he will continue to punch them in the face if they try to untie his anchor from around their necks. I hope they all sleep terribly! 💕
