Software, Graphics, Programming languages and Type systems. I like Good coffee and Heavy Metal. London, UK. He/Him. DMs open.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Having grown up in Wales, I can testify that if you are actually worried about your culture and history being under threat, the thing to do is write poetry and songs, perform plays, tell stories and organise festivals, not just sit around whining.

This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.

It’s at risk of being drowned out by other news, but great to see the CCC’s latest warning on climate adaptation on the front page of the Guardian. An issue that needs far more attention. Great to see @samalvis.bsky.social quoted on the case for more air con too…

UK ‘built for climate that no longer exists’ and needs urgent changes to survive global heating, report warns

Landmark report calls for widespread air conditioning and says UK temperatures forecast to exceed 40C by 2050

I am once again begging, praying, weeping for lists of written instructions rather than videos. I do not want to watch your two minute video in the hope of catching the two seconds where you whizz past what goddamn menu the thing is under. Write. It. Down.

Helen Mirren is famously sad that Kurt Cobain didn't live to experience GPS, but personally I'm sad Sir Christopher Lee didn't live to star in Celebrity Traitors. Time is a cruel thing.

the European mission to Greenland was fourth in the BBC news running order this morning, which feels a bit like doing a light "and finally..." item about the archduke's motorcade taking a wrong turn in Sarajevo

The Ellison/Weiss CBS News of today would insist they couldn't platform Eisenhower without also platforming Göring and if anyone pointed out how ridiculous it was they'd talk about the importance of "open debate" and if you complained loudly enough they'd say "come debate that on my podcast"

Popehat@kenwhite.bsky.social · 10mo ago

/2 This will be grotesque. Edward R. Murrow didn’t have a radio show in 1946 where Eisenhower debated Göring about whether the Nazis had some good points. Today’s media would absolutely do that. Today’s media will platform people defending and rewriting Good’s murder for years.

When you publish a website that posts the names and photos of scholars who have written or said things you disagree with and encourage people to surveil and harass them, you are not, in fact, a “free speech” organization.

Ted McCormick@tedmccormick.bsky.social · last yr.

It is quite simply dishonest to describe TPUSA as a “free speech” organization and not even mention the “Professor Watchlist,” as NPR just did. Reporting on a crime does not entail adopting the victim’s views.

Excited about this - Dylan, Braeden, and Cole are all huge fans of CATAN, and we're over the moon to be working with them (and to send some CATAN players to see them in concert at an INCREDIBLE venue in London!). (Note: The contest is just for tickets, winners are responsible for their own travel.)

We are excited to announce our collaboration with Wallows. Five lucky CATAN fans can win free concert tickets to their concert at the Brixton Academy in London, UK!! 🎸🇬🇧 More details on how to participate and a link will be added in the comments below shotly 👇

A sad thing about social media is just how much it is full of people who just need to go outside and enjoy live but are instead radicalising themselves and others into fearing what is objectively one of the best and safest cities not just now but in all of human history.

Meanwhile... over on X ... Darren Grimes, the Tiny Tears of British politics, is upset because it's not the fifties any more. Modern day Soho Square on the right and you can see how much it's changed.

The Greens now have nearly 200 more councillors than Reform. This is not something you'd be likely to guess from all the copiously salivating media coverage of Farage & his crew of billionaire-backed far-right chancers.

Another record year for the Green Party 👏 859 Councillors on 170 Councils in England & Wales Now join us to keep Greens growing and to take the fight to Reform join.greenparty.org.uk
