If a team makes a game that gets great reviews and doesn't sell, that's a biz failing but the silver lining is you caught lighting in a bottle -- protect that team! It's worth its weight in gold. If you jettison the team but keep the biz people, I don't know what to tell you

As the director of a historical video game preservation institution, and someone who has dedicated his entire adult life to this cause, this is accurate. We have attempted to work with the industry's trade organization to find a legal path forward, but they refuse to offer a meaningful alternative.

piracy is the only extant form of media preservation that exists in games right now, you might find it morally reprehensible but there is literally no other institution that will keep games alive in 25, 50 years' time

i think what saddens me the most about all these studios closing is looking at Silksong and Mina the Hollower the real magic happens when a team stays together for years and you can grow your skills and evolve instead of destroying the medium for shareholder yacht #3847

I’ve never understood the “no no don’t worry guys, we’re just using gen AI for concepts not final product” angle some execs are trying to take. Like concepts aren’t the time you want interesting fresh ideas, not amalgamations of existing stuff churned together

It tends to be rare for workers in the games industry to receive secondary payments or royalties. But for many performers, secondary payments are far more commonplace. Why can't this be the case for ALL game workers? Really insightful to hear Sarah and Zeke's thoughts on this.

Really wish @bsky.app would fix their browser version so it doesn't constantly show mouse-over pop-up profiles just moving your cursor past an avatar or username. I've already accidentally unfollowed people multiple times just trying to click on a post.

A cool consequence of basing page-flipping on detecting *any* relative motion is that it becomes more than a hand gesture - it's a full physical response! This means I can use *anything* to turn the pages, even by brushing the book against a stationary object. 🐧👄🐟🫗🔄️ #GodotEngine #gamedev #indiedev

Aw hell YEAH! This motion analysis tech has exceeded my expectations. Rubbing my face in that plant in VR was surreal. 📕🪴🧹 #GodotEngine #gamedev #indiedev #VR

Currently belatedly playing Horizon Forbidden West and I both like it and find it frustrating. My hot take about games is that you shouldn't need to turn off half the interface/HUD to have a good (non-patronizing) experience in an open world game. And player characters should talk less. #gamedev
