Also it's not even like machine learning will go away. Just the overly-broad LLMs that waste server space, energy, and water just to output unreliable bullshit. The actually useful stuff can easily be run locally because they're trained to do specific tasks rather than output literally anything.

also, in case this needs to be said YES I'm anti-ai, I'm EXTREMELY anti-ai, if you don't know how ravenously anti-ai I am then you don't know me at all, do not attempt to paint me as pro-ai, FUCK ai I just think people are jumping to conclusions about this specific situation and ignoring nuance

So Okay Here's the Thing@sookayheresthe.bsky.social · 2d ago

ohhh I see. people just didn't actually read what hank green said, and didn't listen to his actual words, they just heard "hank green" and "AI" in the same sentence and went "ah yes I see where this is going" and started angrily writing fanfiction about him

anyway, i’m at the point where people starting new substacks/remaining on substack really bums me out but can’t spend a ton of energy getting mad about it. bigger fish to fry and all. it just confuses me how so many continue to ignore the evidence of how much they suck.

7. Rowling celebrated. She posted on twitter: “Your apology for labelling women-only rape support centre Beira’s Place ‘anti-rights’ is a nice birthday present, AmnestyUK. Cheers. And congratulations to all the other women’s and LGB organisations Amnesty acknowledges having wrongly smeared"

6. In its apology, Amnesty completely capitulated, saying the document “should never have been published” and calling its publication “an error.” It specifically disavowed the labeling of anti-trans “gender critical” organizations as “anti-rights,” stating:

5. The threats were serious due to UK policies allowing the mega-wealthy to sue people who criticize them into submission. Unlike the US, where anti-SLAPP laws allow defendants to get these suits dismissed early, the UK has no protections for those using their freedom of speech to criticize.

4. Rowling posted: “Should any of the women’s organisations targeted by AmnestyUK’s recent ‘anti-rights’ blacklist wish to take legal action, applications can be made to the JK Rowling Women’s Fund.” That fund is a private war chest she launched in May 2025, backed by an immense personal fortune.
