I feel floored by that last sentence. How?! Thousands of miles away, on another continent, we didn't know how to go about our daily lives.

I didn't consider the risks to my health I was much more focused on supporting traumatized survivors and their families and first responders I was only the second ring. They were first ring of trauma. Uptown they were having white wine in outdoor cafe's like nothing happened.
As a brown man - the answer is in the second part of your question… They don’t have a problem with it. They have intention to allow it. Stephen and his boy Danny have a long documented history. They’re not unknown quantities…

Why no reassurance to the public that this is being taken seriously, that they have no intention of letting organised fascist thugs shut down key infrastructure, and that we should expect arrests and charges to follow?
So I take it we can infer from this that the British police think uniformed fascist thugs shutting down key infrastructure is totally fine. I mean what else are we supposed to take this lack of action to mean?

If a white person uses the term "woke" I realize that they are either a malicious asshole, maliciously complacent, or reflexively unthinking, and it's only a matter of time before they reveal which one it is. One good way to find out is to explain what "woke" actually means and note the reaction.

In honor of Dolly and her commitment to getting books to kids, tell me about a book you read as a child that changed your life. I’ll start: so many, but tonight maybe I’ll say A WRINKLE IN TIME, a book that taught me anger wasn’t wrong.
Her philanthropy was so broad that it can hardly be reported. I especially love that she funded youth band programs in the south. There is no excuse for billionaires. Not one.

A saint that walked among us. Every other wealthy person should be ashamed of themselves if they don't live up to Dolly standards.
We are told to ignore the racism of Hegel, Kant, Locke etc because they were just "men of their time". So what do we do with the racism of current academics? Are they too just "men of their time"? What is this "time" that seems to make racists of men?

People bring experiences of trauma & poor care, can then be further harmed by services. Don't be surprised by this. It's so common. We need to be ever mindful about the possibility of power hierarchies becoming oppressive.
