I’m happy to have housing now, but this time last year my Celica hatch was “home” and it was about the most relaxing, safe feeling spot ever and I really miss it some days. Been trying to figure out if I can set it up for camping or something 😅 just a lillll nicer than i had it.

We need to bring back the hatchback. The people don't want sedans. They don't want stationwagons. They don't want SUVs and crossovers. They want indestructible sporty little hatchbacks with carrying capacity that feels like a bag of holding.

BOURDAIN (voiceover): I found myself surrounded by discarded objects. An empty soda can, a dead battery. Life becomes death. But death can become life. The simmering pot with its spicy aroma in front of me is proof. BOURDAIN: What's in this dish? ME: Pikmin BOURDAIN: Pikmin. Oh man that's good.

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play

The Campaign to Force Genital Exams on Girl Athletes Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.
Portrait of Andrea González-Ramírez
By Andrea González-Ramírez, a senior writer for The Cut who covers systems of power. Those physicals, Maria explains, are usually perfunctory: “Like, Are you walking normally? Are you lightheaded? I have never had to take any clothes off. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or violated.” If IL26-638 were to pass and Maria were still in school, she says she would likely drop out of her team. (We’re withholding Maria’s real name to protect her privacy.) “I honestly don’t know if I would be able to do these tests,” she adds. “It would also make me question, If I do it, are all my teammates going to too? Or would I just play with the three or four girls who are willing to or have access to do it?”

Reminder that we published an extensive interview with a former editor at The New York Times who laid out, in detail, how the paper's pushing of anti-trans bigotry was both very intentional and directed from the very top of the organization. The NYT plays a direct and major role in trans genocide:

In this in-depth interview, former New York Times editor Billie Jean Sweeney details how the paper shifted towards openly promoting anti-trans hatred, how some staff tried to stop it, how it's directe...

thinking about this today for no reason in particular,, cis people love to say they'll push back if the govt ever tried to round us up into camps but they quite literally cannot even SAVE THEMSELVES MONEY AND CANCEL A SUBSCRIPTION. they will not lift a finger to save us, y'all. we are all we have.

sent my friend of 20 years a text last week with a link to my NYT thread from a few weeks ago (that details the ways they're killing trans kids) with a request that he read it and, at the *bare minimum* cancel his sub to that transphobic rag. this was his response. we're ngmi, y'all i stg. 🙃

a text saying: "the tldr is that I always want to be here to support you, but u also wong stop reading the NY Times because while it's imperfect and i see their bias against trans people, it's a far distance from the hateful commentary that's seen on the right side, and good thoughtful mainstream journalism is hard to find.

options are basically WaPo (a little left for me), WSJ (too right and too focused on money which doesn't hold my interest) and the NYT. I would say that there are red lines that would cause me to stop paying for news from them but I don't see a world where that truly happens.
