1. Most bicycles are not going 25 mph 2. Bike crashes involving pedestrians are rarely fatal because of lower speeds and mass 3. The risks posed by bicyclists and cars to pedestrians are not equivalent 4. Why does no one ever say, "I support cars but they need to operate within traffic laws."

Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
Cool use of ChatGPT means invading your kids privacy through AI because you’re afraid to talk with them. The privacy impact of AI needs talking about much, much more. Lots of other fears are discussed, but privacy is (as so often) forgotten.

I worry about the narrative on this stuff because young people are so impressionable and not going to college is just such a huge mistake over your lifetime earnings. It’s deeply immoral to see Ivy-educated conservatives argue against college because they know they need angry, undereducated voters.

Carbon capture is expensive and largely ineffective at making a real difference on emissions. Especially when the captured carbon can be used for enhanced oil recovery, which lets companies access oil that would have otherwise stayed in the ground!!!
