I mean, what can you say. One of the greatest actors our nation produced who went on to become a pop culture icon in not just one but multiple roles. We were blessed to have him and his loss will be deeply felt. Thank you for everything Patrick Stewart.

The Welfare bill is the same as it has ever been for the last 20+ years, which is much lower than most of Europe. 50% is pensions, which again are one of the lowest in Europe. Much of the rest is disabilities, again we pay less to Disabled People than much of Europe.
This is just the line that all the main parties are running. Cut Welfare so we don't have to tax billionaire donors.
Everything you need to set up a Labour Budget. Terms and conditions apply. Real action on the cost-of-living crisis sold separately.

One of the most frustrating things about watching the 1930s in reruns has been how institutions that spent decades or centuries building reputations for integrity through literal blood and sweat have eagerly blown all of that completely out their assholes to be these scrotal abrasions' fanclub
BBC report sanitises the overt racism: It notes that organisers warned marchers not to talk to journalists, then gives the "anti-immigration group"'s own sanitised description of itself. It does not report they chanted "England for the white man" in the streets. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
i think everyone getting mad are just cowards who are scared to directly say they think the transphobic policies are good
I think people intuitively understand that democratic candidates tossing trans kids to the wolves is not only morally repugnant but also politically ineffective, otherwise they wouldn't freak out every time someone said they weren't voting for a democrat who did this
when they say shit like "you have to be practical and understand that the average voter is transphobic" they are talking about themselves
Decades of hard-won progress erased in a few short years by a handful of politicians & newspaper editors who figured that non-stop screeching about asylum seekers and trans people was the only way to maintain electoral consent for perma-austerity while every part of the state visibly rots.

Sure, we should, if we can (many cannot). But as I keep pointing out, the government itself is making no provision at all. No stockpiles, no back-up, no alternative sources. It's individuating the response to a collective problem, and that never ends well. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Labour party wants war and climate change but are telling us that when these things come we’ll be on our own..
Jackdaw offers just 27 jobs, 35 million tonnes of carbon, and no change to energy security or bills. Greens offer a different vision. Our own homegrown, renewable energy, creating thousands of British jobs and investing in our children's futures. join.greenparty.org.uk

Gotta raise a glass to Bioware. Baldur's Gate 1+2, Neverwinter Nights 1, Mass Effect 1-3 (MASS EFFECT for goodness' sake). Star Wars KOTOR. These were some of the greatest PC games of all time and absolutely changed the RPG industry.
The good news for Labour is they've finally found someone who thinks Jackdaw is a good idea. The bad news? It's Donald Trump.
So far this week Labour has.. *Banned trans women from hospital wards * Gone to war on behalf of Saudi Arabia * Announced new North Sea drilling (It might be quieter on buses though). It's only Wednesday, so what further horror awaits?
The unions have always been dinosaurs when it comes to climate action and today is one of those days.. they even celebrate betraying the generations of the future...
In my conversations with the UK Prime Minister and the Chancellor, I have been very clear that whilst we of course support net zero, we cannot have a jobless transition, abandon our energy security or offshore our carbon responsibilities. That is why we have argued for this decision on Jackdaw.
Sure this might not improve energy security, provide jobs, reduce our reliance on imports, or address the climate crisis. But what it will do is allow Shell to avoid paying the windfall tax and likely lead to yet another net-negative tax payment, and isn't that the important thing?
This is truly pathetic from Ministers. Labour’s claim to more than 27 new Jackdaw jobs doesn’t hold up. The green economy is >£100bn a year and growing fast. There is no future in fossil fuels. The Government knows this, but chooses profit for Shell over protecting our climate.
Jackdaw will not bring down bills or protect jobs. This is an irresponsible decision from a government that seems to care more about the profits of fossil fuel companies than the money in your pocket or the safety of our planet.
Genuinely curious what the "high level policy analysis" is on this stuff, within the uk gov. Terrible policy
Government support for drilling at #Jackdaw takes a wrecking ball to any pretence of UK climate leadership & pours fuel on an overheating world - and for what? It’s equivalent to just 2 months of UK gas demand, creates just 27 direct jobs & has *no* impact on energy bills🧵1/4
I started in US dollars, so I'll stick to US dollars. UK 'defence' spending has increased from $53.3bn in 2016, to around $89bn this year. Raising EVERY single UK child out of poverty would cost around £20bn a year. Returning 'defence' spending to 2022 ($64bn) levels would achieve this...
