A few weeks ago, I snagged 5 sets of shelves on freegle, and (because me) decided they could be better. So I cut two in half, cut and moved the side supports, drilled new holes for shelf pins, then screwed them together into two solid units! I am so happy with how they've turned out!
At this rate the AAA games industry is just going to be rooms full of executives giving each other bonuses while waiting for new games that will never come.

What frustrates me about the post shown here is that I'm sure Cyril would swear up and down that his assessment is objective. People online constantly treat their personal preferences as definite fact and treat everyone else's preferences as heresy.

Congrats to everyone who got a shoutout in the Telegraph today, although I don't know where they got the idea that Bluesky is a place where people are kind to each other. This is site is not kind. This is a PvP server where you get randomly matched with an American who has misunderstood your joke.

It's fascinating, because a big part of their argument is that "AI is in everything, so even when you don't think you're using it, you're using it". They honestly think they're some sort of essential ingredient to the food chain, not realising they're just the equivalent of adding extra arsenic.

When Trump wins by 2% it's the unanimous Mandate of Heaven for the next 1,000 Year Reich, but when one dude in a Dem primary can't get shooed offstage despite being outspent by a factor of 8.75 fair and square, suddenly it's "divisive?" OK!1!!!1!
The fact that this dude seems to be suggesting that he CAN'T get through an entire workday without using AI should be more of a worry to him. That's basically admitting he'll be useless after an internet outage and will be impotently waiting for the rectangle to tell him what to do

These are among the world’s most vulnerable and desparate people. They need safe routes and humanity from responsible politicians, not grandstanding. This isn’t doing politics differently.
So the Guardian's "The hill I will die on" column has so far taken on the weighty subjects of games and breakfast cereal. Good to know their columnists have their finger on the pulse of regular people. Otherwise this might come across as upper-middle class intellectual snobbery.

I think it also revealed just how quickly a bunch of otherwise very hard problems can be to solve with global collective action. The fuckin Ganga was running clear water for the only time in my lifetime because for 2 weeks nobody threw garbage in it. The canals in Venice had fish.

That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
I started getting followed by some "film festivals" and "writing festivals" and thought "oh, these are cool!" Then I looked a little closer. They're all part of a network that preys on writers, charging us for reviews, and feeding our stuff into slop generators. So I made a list.👋🏻🖕🏻😠

An informed consent model for gender affirming care. Self ID. Non-Binary people legaly recognised. No trans + censorship in schools.
Appeasement only leads to more appeasement. The moment you give ground they will push you even further back. Anything less than holding the line is surrender.
