I did say Shabana Mahmood would be on the side of the thugs. Burnham keeping her in post was an utter disgrace. Labour supporters should be brave enough to say so. So should Labour MPs.
The UK desperately needs an independent national news broadcaster that can be trusted by everyone. Unfortunately, the BBC is not it.

Just as well those committing wrongs against the RNLI are not holding placards supporting a proscribed organisation, else they would really be in trouble.

It's 2026 and the US President is bragging about an almost certainly inaginary deal to buy potash from a Russian vassal state because Canada refuses to become a US one.
Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Most housing benefit goes to private landlords. A big chunk of universal credit subsidises underpayed workers. The so-called welfare bill could be seriously reduced by fixing these underlying issues, not cutting actual welfare.
