Derek Powazek@fraying.bsky.social · 2d agoReminder that “bubble” just means “a community I don’t like” or “a community that rejected me.” Please replace the word with the appropriate phrase whenever you see it used to describe a social media system.
Those were fun times. It was great watching trolls and clout boosters spinning helplessly as tens of thousands of users blocked them on sight instead of giving them the engagement they so desperately wanted.

Don't retcon the last 2 years of utterly abusive & coercive bullshit the #AI industry has indulged in, at our expense. This shit wants burning down.
We should be telling kids who ask why we make them do reading comprehension tests -- One day the life of someone you love deeply may hinge on whether you read and understood something yourself or depended on someone to incorrectly explain it to you. You will have to live with that consequence.
CW: rape US military bases in the UK are effectively acting as consequence-free rape centres. They should all be shut down. Why aren't the "protect our women and girls" crew storming these bases?

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.
I am *absolutely sick* of hearing about young people as 'benefit scroungers'. Nearly 60% of welfare spending goes on pensioners! The people writing this stuff know that too.
I think it would be good for AI discourse if people would learn what is a statement of fact and what is marketing, and this is almost certainly marketing
