If I had spent my whole career as a newspaper columnist, whose family appeared in Debrett's peerage, I think I'd be a little more wary of saying of others that "they’re not real people" and have "never held a proper job".

Per most recent figures, net migration to NI *over the past 22 years* has been ~62,000 people. Only 3% of Northern Ireland’s population currently belong to an ethnic minority. Pogroms in Belfast (as with Ballymena last year) are just gutter-level "One Is One Too Many" racism, and nothing else.

so I do think that when people say "but we're not built for heat here!" what they at least partially mean is "we're used to being able to sort of just ignore the weather all year around!", which is unfortunately not something you get to do when it starts being 33 degree celsius in May

As some point dividing up the electorate into little blocs you have to pick and choose between is part of why Labour is in this mess. At some point you just have to make people's lives better. I'm not saying that's easy, but it's not as hard as Labour make it seem either

Without minimising the dire results for Labour, it’s extraordinary how chipper the Tories are. They’ve lost 500 seats from a low watermark, lost historic major councils to Lib Dems and Reform, show no signs of recovery in the esp LD areas they need to win. But MPs seem to think it’s going well.

Caught some of a Noah Wyle interview earlier where he was talking about how some fans have a show they’re making in their head and they don’t like it when the actual show deviates from that and DAMN. That’s it
