Tbh I'm actually relatively optimistic about the future. The problem, of course, is that I live in the present.

When politicians say we have to work out a way to fund higher military budgets within tight fiscal rules, what they mean is that without real revenue generation from wealth taxes, every extra £ channelled into armaments is a £ taken from hospitals/local council services, housing/ infrastructure.

Can't get numb to this: The United States is stuck in a war it started, cannot end, and may further escalate to no avail, having dismantled its diplomatic apparatus, depleted its military stockpile, and destroyed its credibility.
