Zack Polanski, "If we decarbonise by 2050, that would cost less than a single (fossil-fuel) energy shock" "We've now had two energy shocks in just a few years" "We cannot keep waiting, we cannot keep hoping for magic technologies - it already exists, what is lacking is the political will"

This is what happens when anti-racism norms erode, and elites bear a lot of the responsibility for norm erosion, as they have disproportionate power to set and enforce norms

news.sky.com/story/nhs-st... stereotypically this has been seen as Old People, but not only would the old people of now have often been born post-Windrush, lot of this will be younger people who've always lived in a diverse Britain. The guy with a pregnant wife likely millennial at oldest

Rob hints at this but it’s worth reiterating that a major failure of the Starmer government was their inability to convey a consistent antiracist message or uphold norms. They confused anger about ‘the boats’ with generalised racism and since they couldn’t denounce the former they avoided the latter

March 2020: no testing, no treatment, no vaccine, admissions doubling every 3 to 4 days. Countries ahead of us closed schools alongside everything else, so nobody had evidence separating the two. We didn't know much about Covid in children and nothing about long term impact 3/12

He’s been ranting about immigration since Brexit and he’s not going to stop now. If a giant asteroid crashed into the planet and wiped out all life, Farage would emerge from the debris ranting about immigration.

Russia’s aggression gets worse every day. Today the Kyiv region was hit by 10 ballistic missiles, and in Sloviansk the Latvian honorary consulate was hit. We strongly condemn these brutal attacks and stand in full solidarity with the Ukrainian people and our EU-partner Latvia.

Amazing thing about Britain is how you can just stumble across a beautiful city with a stunning ancient cathedral, and you have never even heard of it before. Can you work it out?

Fabulous and so very much worth the read. "AI is the asbestos we're shoveling into the walls of our civilization and our descendants will be digging it out for generations."

Parking lots. In America, we have LOTS of those. Putting solar over those would probably generate enough electricity, we could quit oil in one huge category and go to electric vehicles. Just thinking outloud. 🤔
