Tim Bousquet@timbousquet.bsky.social · 2d agoWow! Big news: Tim Houston says the peaker plant procurement process should be re-opened to look at battery storage. This isn't a commitment to battery storage, but it's a step back from total commitment to gas plants.
One big lesson from the past 10 years, good and bad, is that voters’ views do not form in a vacuum but are shaped by messaging, ideological sorting and straight up bullshit. This is one reason I have been skeptical of the “nobody wants a fight with Canada” reassurances. Many can be made to want it.

Virtually no anti-Canada US constituency before this year, and virtually no pro-Putin constituency before 2016. Out of nowhere. Now millions say that’s their position.

There are endless studies showing this and also the financial and societal benefits of universal basic income and or housing-first policies but the U.S. never goes for any of it because it would require allowing the poor to receive benefits that the rich consider “undeserved”
