I’m afraid the only part of podcasting I know how to do is host. Any success I have enjoyed has been due to forces beyond my control apart from that. #ngl

Now serving 8900 followers! I’m Alex Jaffe, columnist for DC.com specializing in the minutiae of the DC universe and its history, and consultant to the stars of the writers’ stable. You can ask me anything you want to know about comics (or anything else) at my NGL.

Another popup appeared at my podcasting host, and all I have to say is — nope! No way, not ever. I love Eating the Fantastic's listeners too much to ever inflict advertising on them. I'd rather remain in the red than do such a thing. Your ears are the only reward I need.

My wife and I have been audio podcasters since ~2012. And I worked in radio (not on-air) for a decade before that. Our current show, a figure skating podcast, ran 3 years as audio only, but we got many requests to do video. We made the “pivot” last year, and saw our audience grow quickly.

I just need like 10x the listeners. Are you telling me I should start replying to all these emails telling me how to grow my audience by signing up for a free 30 day trial for their podcast growth-maxing course?

My true-crime podcast about a bizarre kidnapping in rural Ohio is a finalist for a 2026 Signal Award. I’d be grateful if you’d help me grow its audience by giving it a VOTE at the link below!
