Perhaps I should have been inside the station. Surely then they'd have protected me.
I also had my hand broken in several places by a guy with a baton while we were both standing directly in front of Portland Police headquarters. Come to think of it, I've often become a victim of crime while standing within eyesight of a police station
I had my car broken into and laptop stolen in front of a police station in San Francisco and when I walked in to report the crime the officer on duty asked what I wanted him to do about it
