After giving it some thought, I figure there's never going to be a perfect time to open for horror/Weird fic collection submissions. Why not now while my job is still in a slow period? If you're BIPOC and/or queer, I'm especially interested in reading your work: cursedmorsels.com/submission-c...

If I happen to go missing, please send someone to dig me out, the reference book piles have probably taken over.
Aw man, Bill Oddie. One of the patron saints of being gloriously silly. I hope he and Willy Rushton are singing increasingly weird parody songs in Valhalla.
Well, I finally pulled my finger out and finished putting together an author website (actually building on one a friend started making for me about ten years ago!) The banner image doesn't work on phones, but I'm just happy to finally have a place people can find my work. samuelpoots.wordpress.com

Who cares about D&D novels anyway? Some thoughts on why scholars of fantasy probably should, and a bunch more people, too. This is the first essay in my forthcoming Dungeons & Dragons reading series.

For when you’ve had a really bad day, deploy a classic.
Not all places arrive fully populated & within easy reach - especially in space. What extra flavour can a spacey SF setting bring to your stories of isolation? We've got SFF author and editor @rickandwrite.bsky.social joining us to explore the outer reaches of isolation in fiction. Meet him ⬇️
If y'all know queer comics artists that can nail both 🚀science fiction🚀 and 🪡fashion🪡 stuff, can you tag folks or drop links to portfolios?
In a managerial role I was giving instructions to colleagues when the boss walks in. He laughed at how I did it, called me Uncle Arthur from Dad’s Army, made me walk back into the room and do it again while he stood in the corner grinning. I liked the guy but there are reasons my confidence sucks.
made a white vacformed plastic canopy on a planning model for the Baltic Exchange architect didn't like it, wanted it transparent instead. i explained the work involved given the model was needed in a meeting "just spray it with that clear stuff you use?" he meant varnish. expecting invisibility
happy birthday to me 👵🎂 AND happy birthday to final fantasy x 💖
Hive Mind! I am looking for a Deaf or Partially Deaf artist/graphic designer who signs (I'm not overly bothered whether that's BSL, ASL, or what) who might *potentially* be interested in doing some SFF book covers for pay. These are fact-finding enquiries for me at present, not immediate contract.
Been listening to @vixyandtony.bsky.social songs again, and I don't know what it is about them but they always tap right into my love of stories. (Give their We Are Who We Are album a listen some time, great filk songs.)
Excessive LOLOLOLOL AI isn't like moving from horse + cart to a Ferrari It's moving into a palanquin: inefficient, a sign of conspicuous consumption from pretentious asshats, movement at the expense of and carried upon the pained backs of stolen/uncompensated labour mostly in the global South
George Lucas likens AI sceptics to luddites clinging to horses and carts
I need to take a moment to remind everyone that the vast majority of fiction editors are doing the best they can in very difficult times for little money with little time. If all those editors decide to step down, you know what? your work won’t get published. There won’t be anyone to publish it.
HELLO AUTHORS. The Deadlands will open to short story submissions (up to 5,000 words) for the entire month of October. but wait there's MORE For the first time everrr we are opening to NOVELETTE SUBMISSIONS (1/3)
Social media can be a terrible, terrible place, but one of my favorite parts of it has to be all the cool art I see posted here! You are all incredibly talented! Scrolling through my feed and seeing fantastic illustrations and paintings and fantastical pieces, it's all so cool!
If you'll all excuse a brief moment of venting, I am so fucking burnt out on this thesis. The deadlines are creeping up and yet it never seems to be getting any closer to being done. Just longer.
Happy Friday to your story submissions and mine.
Happy fridayyyyyyyyyy to your story submissions and mine!
Can't top this answer. A guided tour of the galleries would be a fascinating time, though the mind-shackle scarab for entry seems a bit steep.
I was thinking... what 40k person? And there it was. Trazyn the Infinite. Bonus marks, as he wants you to pop around. Maybe you can stay a while?
