Jared Holt@jaredlholt.bsky.social · 3mo agoThe "centrist" think tank Third Way is looking to pay someone between $140,000 and $150,000 to spend their days trying to dig up dirt on DSA members. They're trying to sell this gig as "anti-extremism" work, which I find completely disgusting.
One of the main goals of Section 230 was to prevent spurious, bad faith or bad facts litigation — to limit the ability for censors to chill speech via lawsuits (or the threat of). The Ninth Circuit seems intent on upending it, allowing thousands of lawsuits to go forward.
Mike Masnick@masnick.com · 3mo agoWrote about Monday's Ninth Circuit ruling that I think is wrong on both the facts and the law, but could have a massive (damaging) impact on the open internet. Effectively the court removed the part of Section 230 that actually mattered, by insisting *everyone else* was sloppy with their language.
It’s ironic that the America First movement will be responsible for ending American hegemony.
