It's hard to really get across how baffling the gatekeeping model of trans healthcare actually is. Like. You say "maybe patients shouldn't have to put their hand in the pain box from Dune" and people go "but we should be careful" like. Okay. The pain box from Dune is unrelated to being careful.

I think it is true a lot of Gen Z is unaware that they are using terms that got adopted by Stormfront adjacent areas at least partially ironically, but that doesn't make it any less dire that that sort of language is being normalized.

Edit of the "Calvin's Dad Explains Record Players" Calvin & Hobbes comic

Calvin's Dad: "Playing internet slang? I'll show you something interesting. The two types of slang are Nazi and AAVE. All slan galls into these two categories. Rizz? AAVE. Chad? Nazi.

Calvin: "Yeah..."

Calvin's Dad: "Serving cunt? AAVE. -maxxing? Nazi. Despite being actually funny, -slop is Nazi."

Last panel is Calvin in bed unable to sleep.

It seems like hypocrisy, right? But we're in a time where professed values are no longer expected to have any meaning, so a charge of hypocrisy these days carries no heft to it. Instead, let's talk about the deep consistency in RFK Jr. and conservatives' approach to medicine.

I am now designating the "Bricks and Minifigs" scandal as required watching. Every breathing human being needs to be exposed to this. This is what Police do. This is what religion does. This is everything I hate in one story. Ffffffuuuuuuck

Honestly the real story of the Bricks and Minifigs saga looks to be the blatantly corrupt cops (and the Christian Nationalism) Not exactly surprising given ACAB, but nevertheless horrifying as always

oops! you're right, I plotted and schemed against you. Here's my breakdown of what happened. I: * Contacted your bastard son * Convinced him to raise an army against you * Paid informants to familiarize myself with your habits * Slipped poison into your nightly tonic Going forward, I promise not t

Brianna Wugenicist's tweet is not trolling. The tweet isn't click farming. It isn't for cis people. It isn't for trans people. It isn't for you, or me. Brianna Wu's tweet is for her. Just her. But the skeet thread I'm skeeting right now is, as usual, for trans people. 🧵1/

Brianna Wu advocates for the extermination of trans people by engaging in eugenicist selective abortions of fetuses determined to be trans.

Screenshot of a social media post by Brianna Wu (@BriannaWu) that reads: "One of my biggest hopes for the future is that we can come up with some sort of test in utero to determine if a child is going to grow up to be transsexual, and then opt them out of the gene pool. It's, I can tell you firsthand, it's a horrific way to grow up, one that no ethical person should want to inflict on a child. The reason the trans community is so unstable online is the developmental damage that we invariably get. It's like a house being built where every floor is leaning, and by the time you get to the top, the entire structure is unstable. Repairing that damage has taken me a lifetime."

This thread is going to be slow, but this process is slow, as you well know. Far better people than me have explained this better than I will, so go read @nataliereed84.bsky.social's essay while you wait. It could save your life! freethoughtblogs.com/nataliereed/... I just read it again myself! 5/X

My lukewarm take is that the pre-Endgame Marvel movies were about something resonant so people liked them even when they were "bad," whereas the post-Endgame Marvel movies aren't about anything, so people don't like them even when they are "good."

so here's a pernicious statement designed to maximize outrage. he said "america deserved 9/11" and this guy is now saying that the individual people in the WTC towers deserved 9/11, which is a different thing entirely this is a common way for misinformation and outrage to be spread on the internet

Her piece about Piker, which endorsed (and/or dismissed as innocuous) his bigoted and otherwise repulsive statements-- including even his claim that the people killed in the WTC deserved it -- was not about Piker or his views. Got it.
