El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"

I loved this story as a kid, reading and rereading it. We’ve reached the day it’s set.
Today is "Soft Rains Day" for those who remember this haunting 1950 Ray Bradbury piece. It's classic Bradbury, eerily accurate w/ its predictions in some respects (looking at you, Alexa), and well worth a few moments of your day to read if you're so inclined.
📺❌ Fans of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes will miss the first three mountain classifications (Cat. 1, 3 and 2) entirely during tomorrow’s stage. The live broadcast begins at 15:45. There will be no TV coverage of the first major mountain climb (Col de la Faucille)! 🧐 #TDFF2026
📺🚴♀️ Only stage 5 and 9 of the Tour de France Femmes will be broadcast live in full. Unfortunately, all other stages (including the Mont Ventoux stage) will only be shown in part (2.5 hours of live coverage). #TDFF2026
There’s “off the charts” and there’s France’s absolutely bonkers June & July 2026 temperatures (see black line below). Bad things are happening. Fast.
It’s wild how Peacock gives negative shits about the Tour de France Femmes.

One of the barely-reported stories of the just-ended Tour de France is how two pro cyclists, Brandon McNulty and Xandro Meurisse, were hit by road-raging drivers, in separate incidents, on the same day (which was a time trial stage).
Every time a pro cyclist is hit by a driver it's a good reminder of how silly so much of the victim blaming around bicyclists is. These are the best, most skilled riders in the world and even they get hit! Turns out it's not about the rider.
Update: Google just sent me a statement saying it is “rolling back” this AI feature that let anyone make completely bullshit satellite images. Comes after our demos of the tool and those from OSINT researchers. One of the worst AI tools I’ve ever seen bsky.app/profile/jose...
New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...

100 years ago my grandparents were about 10-12 years old, so let’s say 85 years ago, I would be a preacher (or preacher’s wife), or doing odd jobs for money, as best as I can tell (or staying home with the kids). Could I? Yeah probably. Would I be happy? Unlikely.
Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?

FIU had a search for a law school dean, 20 candidates. President and Provost (themselves with no academic experience besides a weak paper she published on the job) declare it a failed search and hire their buddy, a Trump lawyer, who didn't make the top 20, and was just sanctioned by a federal judge
‘Unusual’: How a Trump attorney became interim dean of FIU’s up-and-coming law school
One search committee member called the incoming dean, who’s worked as President Trump’s attorney, “a poster boy for ethical corruption.”
