He/him. Gamer, but like, the chill kind. Also a baseball fan. Also a streamer, formerly.

The thing that kills me about the looming MLB lockout, and this is absolutely not a new observation, is that any mention from the league of trying to avoid it is in bad faith. Everyone knows the owners are champing at the bit to impose it.

News: MLB sent a 34-page memo to owners and high-ranking officials across the league detailing what to expect — and how to act — during the lockout. MLB’s official website will again be scrubbed of player images. And no holiday cards for players after Dec. 2. www.nytimes.com/athletic/767...

Every time the "why should we just forgive student loans?" question comes up, the answer will always be "Because you promised them jobs & careers that would pay them off and then destroyed the economy, job market, and careers they went to school for right as they graduated and we never recovered."

I feel like we don’t talk about millennials in particular, hitting our 40s - in earlier generations many of us would be reaching the peak of our careers, but because of disaster after disaster, locust after locust eating our industries, many of us are on our 3rd or 4th fresh start.

One of the funny things I've noticed about people lately is that they seem to take "tap to pay" a little *too* literally and won't actually hold their card/phone in place long enough. They often hit the timing sweet spot where the PIN pad beeps but hasn't finished reading it.

I've seen a lot of programmers really disrespect themselves thinking that genAI is "fine" when it comes to coding or w/e because it's not "art" Programming is an art. It requires creativity. And you're literally programming graphics, it's visual art. It's just art. It counts. AI coding is AI "art"

Let's talk about AI in VRChat. Be sure to fill out the Google form at the bottom of the article. ask.vrchat.com/t/regarding-...

I just think it's funny that I have yet to hear about any field of human endeavor where LLMs are considered useful or worthwhile by the experts in that field. 50,000 lines of code to "write" a feature that already exists, goddamn...

EG fell for it too. :( The Capcom presentation contains a slide with "AI世代のゲームエンジンへ" - the article omits the "へ", for one, but the issue is that while 世代 means 'generation', it's in the 'console generation' sense, not like GenAI. Without へ, translation software gets it totally wrong.
