The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.

Glad to see foldables will be trending back to a wide format. Microsoft and Google had this correct answer years ago, but MS's inability to make good software and Google's traditional lack of conviction let it slide away.

When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”

Even as someone who avoids AI, this infects me. I realize my willingness to ask questions and seek knowledge from my co-workers is diminished, both by the "you MUST AI!" tenor of the workplace (who can I trust?) and the significant chance the responses I get will be "let me AI that for you…"

I'm on month two of the new subscription service from Portland-based, woman-owned, generally awesome _Books with Pictures_. I'm using this as a way to lend my support to an excellent but often struggling small business, and also to encourage myself to read things that I might not otherwise choose.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.
