Remarkably, none of this is factually correct. The shift to a trans focus was initiated by Stonewall, after it achieved its lifetime campaigning goal in 2013 with the legalisation of same sex marriage. CEO Ruth Hunt, appointed in 2014, formally announced the new strategy in 2015.

Worth adding some numbers to this. The British press decided to make trans rights into an issue. It just wasn’t an issue before. This was a top-down decision. shado-mag.com/articles/opi...

Raise the Colours, an organisation which has had one of its founders charged with murder, has been heavily implicated in a hit and run (currently under investigation), and another "leading light" faces trial for 22 indecent images charges.

This may be a relatively minor thing for people, it may not but the whole phenomenon of 'Raise the Colours' and the shrug with which the government greeted it (IIRC at one point RtC was even tacitly endorsed?) continues to blow my mind.

Spain’s Nico Williams gave his mother, Maria, his World Cup winner’s medal after Sunday’s final ❤️💛 Nico's parents trekked some 2,000 miles across the Sahara from Ghana to Spain as refugees. Now, their son is a world champion 🥹

Their list of ‘anti-rights groups’ conflates gender critical groups with anti-abortion groups. The trick of tainting with false association. It’s a mess of complaining about traditional gender roles without mentioning the Barbie/GI Joe scale that justifies surgically altering bodies to fit in.

Donaldson arrived at Newry Crown Court in a nice car. He's leaving in a prison vehicle and is going on to the sex offender register. One of NI’s most powerful politicians, who was mentored by Enoch Powell, he has lived up to Powell’s famous dictum.

agreed. I also think it's not really about this generation of 13-18s - it's about setting a new norm for under-13s when they reach that age, and I'd judge it in a decade not by how many existing 15yos dodge it.

Absolutely rightX The Starmer defenders on here will go “you think he’s a disaster? But what about the last 14 years?” The reality is that bad prime ministers go in sequence because it takes a leader of real quality to not whine as Cameron did “why should I do the difficult shit?”

The limits of a UK political system that has refused for ten years to make hard decisions are reached. There are no easy answers. There is no magic money / growth tree. Leaders are going to have to make choices.

It's actually wild how we're all agreed X is a hellsite but totally seem to have let zuckerburk off the hook because Facebook is where you post pics of your kid doing something cute so Mum can share it with her friends 😐 It's the original dumpster fire

Reminder that it's not just X that is driving anti-immigrant protests in Northern Ireland and elsewhere - Facebook is a big part of it all too, with monetised engagement by people like Raise the Colours who weren't even there (they tried to get to Belfast but their flight was cancelled)

Orchestrated racist far-right terrorism in Northern Ireland again in response to an attack in Belfast, gleefully reported by RTC

Just a wee reminder for anyone listening to politicians doing the ‘I condemn the violence but people have legitimate concerns’, shuffle, immigration in NI is 3.5% of the population. Most of them working in NHS, social care and other badly paid jobs.

Northern Ireland saw a second night of unrest with police using water cannon on rioters, as the Belfast stabbing attack victim's family said they were "disgusted" by the disorder
