Why helklo! I research dumb things and sometimes write dumber things. (he/him?) https://randomhoohaas.net/

There was a brief moment in time where blogging was a primary mode of social media, and it was delightful to see the people around you write as their way of documenting and processing the world, with writing voices you never would have otherwise had an opportunity to read. I miss that.

Random Hoo Haas been offline since Thursday, claiming "server not found" both in browsers and logging in via FTP. I've emailed my webmistress but haven't heard back yet, though the rest of the FlyingOmelette domains seem to be operational. I'll look into something if it's still down by Monday.

I know with animation it's hard to get as intricate with designs without running into Uzumaki's roadblocks, but damn does it make me appreciate how skilled the Fleetway artists were at matching style and genre.ĺ

A page of Fleetway's Golden Axe comic, all painted in the style of a swords-and-sorcery novel cover.A page of the Streets Of Rage comic, all solid colours and lurid neon lights comtrasting heavy inked shadows, pulp crashing into an 80s movie.Decap Attack's comic in a more angular, cartoony style, facial features drawn to emphasise grotesque expressions.Ecco The Dolphin's comic, no inked linework, instead looking like a gorgeous watercolour painting.

Thew's toy reviews are always worth a watch, but when you get someone with his presentation style and knowledge of music - the man's a drummer himself, among his other talents - doing reactions *to music*, you get a damned good video that achieves far more than its intended purpose. Great watch.

Let's listen to #Transformers: The Movie's reformatted soundtrack and rank all the songs by how much they miss the point!

Genma Taisen (or Harmagedon: Genma Wars) is an animated movie that had a computer game to go with it released at the same time. The game is legendary for being bad. In part 1 (of 2) I give the history of how the game came to be; in part 2 I will see how it plays. bluerenga.blog/2026/08/07/g...

Genma Taisen (1983)

This is one of the most infamous computer games from Japan ever made. You can mostly blame the 1967 film The Graduate. I’ll explain along the way– Genma Taisen, the manga, was first ser…

2004 yoco clone Cookie Cruncher 1.0 is available elsewhere! it was specifically made for a remake jam, so i can't fault it for copying the puzzles 1:1 from the SNES Yoshi's Cookie, but the other art in the game is not as... cookie-themed as the title suggests sound design is absolutely inspired tho

extremely miffed demonews.com died before its library of batshit freeware could be fully preserved or documented

A screenshot of a game listing. "Cookie Cruncher 1.0. Remake of the 1992 Nintendo Puzzle game Yoshi's Cookie." The screenshot is of a title screen depicting two anime boys, one smiling sensually and pushing a cookie into his blushing cohort

Spent too long thinking "why is the Donk the Samurai Duck theme song that good and where does it come from", saw no one had any definitive answers, so I decided to do my own searching. The answer will absolutely not shock you! www.mistys-internet.website/blog/blog/20...

Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

My July Simpsons review is up, and this month I'm looking at "The Call of The Simpsons" of Season 1. Remember, if you're in the woods this summer and think you've seen Bigfoot, it was probably just a lost and dehydrated camper.

The Call of The Simpsons (aka The Simpsons Have Entered The Forest)

Something that really is astounding about The Simpsons ' premier season is the sheer variety of stories it was capable of offering straight ...
