The London Assembly, spurred on by Reform UK, have elected to publicly condemn BASH BACK. This is a blatant attempt to distract from a wave of fascist and anti-trans violence conducted and spurred on by the state, politicians, and right-wing agitators. We won't be intimidated (1/2)

"London Assembly Publicly Condemns BASH BACK at Behest of Reform UK. We won't be intimidated. Statement follows.""On 10th september 2026, the London Assembly voted to publicly condemn BASH BACK and call for its proscription by the Home Secretary. This vote was called by alex wilson am of Reform UK, and voted through exclusively by Conservative and Reform Party members of the Assembly, with Lib Dems and Green members voting against, and Labour AMs abstaining. This is a blatant attempt by the fascist right to criminalise disruptive non-violent protest as the state increases its stranglehold on trans lives, and Reform and the Conservatives celebrate violence within their own parties."Justifying their decision the Assembly have relied on the language of disgraced former MP and alleged sex-pest and bully John Woodcock (which we critiqued in our article for Freedom Press), as well as parroting the lie that BASH BACK is a violent organisation, due to - apparently - our depictions of hammers on social media. In doing this, Britain’s right have shamelessly weaponised the legacy of Jo Cox, whose murder by a neo-Nazi has long since been used to justify acts of authoritarian state violence, rather than to critique or condemn the xenophobic fascism that informed her murderer. Why? Because Reform UK practice that exact same kind of nationalist authoritarianism. Reform have used BASH BACK - a non-violent group - as a scapegoat to evade their ideological connection to a wave of increasing anti-migrant and fascist violenceEchoing Woodcock, the Assembly also goes on to make serious accusations about our group surrounding the death of Anne Widdicombe, tantamount to interfering with a police investigation. Despite stating this numerous times in the past, we must once again maintain that we do not practice any form of violence against any individual, and would never endorse or celebrate such violence. We never commented on Anne Widdicombe or her death before these accusations, and we do not wish physical harm on any individual. The same, however, cannot be said for Reform UK.
