Kent Ford endorsed Mitch Green for reelection. Mr. Ford has been fighting for his community for more than 60 years in Portland, establishing survival programs for basic needs like food and health care, and challenging racist government and state sanctioned violence from local police and feds.

idk how someone can see the political party that is okay with live streaming executions and not be like oh those are the bad guys
imagine the administrative capacity a supply side progressive governor could build
christine should spend less time worrying about me and more time worrying about whether her friends and donors are in the epstein files. and you should worry about whether christine drazan’s donors are also supporting candidates in the city council races.
normally i’m a pretzel in chex mix avoider, however these fresh ones from the giant 2lb bag from costco are excellent
i got a new coat and i can’t wait for this high 70s weather to go away and i can wear it
i first published housing authority four years ago, in that time i’ve learned a lot more about housing. here’s a re-introduction to what i’m writing about
Is Housing Authority still a newsletter about fighting landlords?
A reintroduction of sorts 🪩

i think there is a protectiveness that a lot of cultural enclaves (created because of redlining and racial discrimination) feel about their neighborhoods that is a direct result of historic patterns of divestment, economic activity and subsequent displacement.
i need portland’s performing arts to be better coordinated about what weekends their shows open and how long they run for because i already bought tickets for something on oct 10!!
it’s so crazy to watch the oregonian follow the right wing outrage playbook about mitch green.
We, as Portlanders, cannot stand idly by while local leaders try to intimidate elected officials and meddle in our elections.
Knee-Jerk Reactions to Councilor Green’s Tweets Are Hypocritical and Dangerous - Portland Mercury
The police are supposed to keep protesters safe as they exercise their rights to free speech—not retaliate by shooting them with rubber bullets, striking them with batons, or spraying tear gas at more...

This is the same issue many nonprofits in Oregon, Minnesota, Washington, etc are facing. “Problems began compounding about a decade ago as housing subsidies fell behind the cost of operations. Costly breakdowns of plumbing, heating and electrical systems have accelerated as the properties have aged”
There's a lesson here about solidarity. You don't have to support someone's tactics or even beliefs to show solidarity. In fact solidarity conditioned on complete agreement is not true solidarity at all.
We should be building free and affordable housing instead of data centers tbh
a haunted house but it’s your landlord painting your living room a poopy yellow
Y’all please do not report this shit without also mentioning that the administration has gutted transit funding and determined bike lanes and sidewalks are illegal DEI. I’d fucking love it if people drove less but we built this country to trap people in cars and they aren’t letting us fix it.
Gas prices spiked after the US attacked Iran in February. That war is ongoing, though the energy secretary says prices will do down after Americans stop traveling for the summer. https://bit.ly/46afAkg
Hot tip: if you see an ad or mailer telling you not to rank a DSA candidate, it’s paid for by a combination of the same 12 guys in a trenchcoat coat who tried to elect Rene Gonzalez and Betsy Johnson. Don’t rank anyone they ask you to!
Deluge of anti-DSA dark money campaigning has begun

today i learned that my childhood best friend changed her party affiliation to help oust these fascists!!
Of the eight Republicans who sit on a state elections committee that has been the incubator for restrictive voting proposals in Wyoming, seven lost their primaries last month. All seven were members of the far-right Freedom Caucus.
does anyone else remember those bogus covid testing sites that popped up during the early days of shut down? horrible things
This PAC seems lined up to support council candidates who approved the Bull Run Megaproject that’ll double water bills in the next few years - which *actually* seems like a threat to local restaurants. And apparently anyone who tried to challenge that is doing “performative politics” - but whatever
my grandma has some stories about growing up in government built housing during ww2 in richland where the wind would get so bad that it would blow roofs off. sometimes the wrong roof got reattached and people’s living room ceilings came back a different color.
i actually grew up in a whole town of public housing that the federal government built for ww2 workers. and those homes are still alive and kicking it today. and the neighborhoods are beautiful with mature trees and parks and access to the columbia river. so yeah you can go see it actually.
The public housing miracle that never happened
