🚨 UPDATE LA28 FAILED to provide us with any of the financial docs we requested and that they are contractually obligated to provide. We requested these to give you TRANSPARENCY on their finances related to the Olympics since LA TAXPAYERS ARE ON THE HOOK if it goes over budget.

It's not the "Cornell 7." It is the Cornell 50, or however many are in that group chat. Their silence is complicity. Essays for five of the seven. Essays. Essays are what you get assigned the first time you plagiarize something, or use AI when it was forbidden.
🗞️ A new issue of Street Roots is out now. Read stories on the movement against new data centers in Oregon, the joys of Halloween nostalgia, what's expected for Oregon's congressional seats this year and more. Purchase a newspaper from your local vendor: www.streetroots.org/vendors/
i first published housing authority four years ago, in that time i’ve learned a lot more about housing. here’s a re-introduction to what i’m writing about
Is Housing Authority still a newsletter about fighting landlords?

When people ask survivors what we need, it’s community, it’s communication, it’s commitment to a world where we don’t dismiss abuse and violence happening all around us and behind closed doors. It’s embracing people, hearing them, seeing them. Not rewarding cowards, clout chasers and excuses.
If we are serious about dismantling patriarchy and rape culture, we would stop calling it Cornell 7. It's the Cornell 57. Passive bystanders are a pillar of misogyny. Men must actively intervene in shifting social norms & refuse to participate in rape *culture* Its the Cornell 57, not Cornell 7.

Portland, let us please take a moment and appreciate how perfectly exquisite the weather is right now. We are past the no-rain terror of summer and on the cusp of rain season. It’s in the 60s, it’s breezy, it’s not quite time for heat but a time to pile on a blanket
Lots of folks have plenty to say about "The Left" and what it (lol) should stop doing at a time when fascists are disappearing people in record numbers and there is no actual force stopping them or the fossil fuel industry that they are in league with.

I despise that it is the left who is constantly seen as being uncompromising and self-righteous when, in my experience, I have never met someone who is more certain of their own moral and intellectual superiority than a centrist arguing for the status quo, and doing so as if that’s being “neutral.”

Local police forces use the Olympics like their own private cash machine, and the LA28 Games will be no exception. LAPD “is anticipating a $375.4 million price tag for officer overtime alone” during the period of the Olympics.
The Los Angeles Police Department is planning to deploy thousands of officers a day during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and it estimates it will cost $732 million to do so. 🔗 Full story: vist.ly/5jqs6 ✍️ Libby Rainey 📸 David McNew/Getty Images

When you schedule your canvas at 10 AM. This is who you’re making wake up early.
What a week. Racism and fascism take on many forms. I can’t help but call it out in situations where the person in our hierarchy has way more power than me, and they carry on without consequences in every other room. Except this one. I’m going to have to let you know that it isn’t ok.
Do you think that s*** posting on elected officials social media does anything to actually change the outcomes? Go do something positive for once.
I was at a candidate forum in Laurelhurst and my campaign manager said she saw someone texting in 40 point font “WOW she’s one of the best speakers” 😂 Like reverse burrito gate
First canvass for Mitch since tweetgate and can confidentally say this was my all time best canvass for any candidate. (And I canvassed for Muñoz against data center proponent Sollman.)
The only reason their industry was ever profitable was that they passed its true cost onto the rest of us.
So galling: Big Oil executives--who for decades have lied, deceived, and in every other way stonewalled legislation that would stop them from profiting by poisoning our bodies and our climate--are now asking for legal immunity for their crimes. @docsforclimate.bsky.social @gchalliance.bsky.social
Karen Bass’s LAPD is openly defying a judge’s order to hand over moonlighting records, and it's obvious why. They are desperately hiding a shadow workforce where cops moonlight for ICE contractors, creating blatant conflicts of interest. It's time to enforce the subpoena and demand accountability.
