I saw some folks I respect reacting to this as if Miller was sharing CSAM; they clearly hadn't read the story.

I've written about lives ruined over allegations that turned out to be harmless photos of kids taking a bath or running naked through the house. Moreno is already calling for prosecutions, here.
Let's all sit with the fact that the president wants to jail some random person who is self-evidently innocent. It's not surprising, but it's amazing that much of the media is almost completely disinterested in this fact.

He wants her to consciously *throw out* exculpatory facts and *knowingly* prosecute innocent people. So facts can't persuade him by definition. Saw somebody claiming that Emily Wilson's (along with other classists') criticisms of the Odyssey was somehow hurting higher ed, a real "touch grass" moment. 1) What percentage of people are even aware of these criticisms? 2) That's not what's hurting higher ed.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

The students are getting better at using AI. I'm seering essays that I'm 95% sure are at least largely AI-generated, but I don't have anything I could point to in an academic integrity case.

So often I see people saying "We should have done/ should do X," and I think, "How?" One problem with social media is that a lot of it is functionally dorm room or bar room level musings treated as serious discourse.
